CMC JPCAP’s PAGPANGANDAM 2024: Empowering Communities for Fire Safety Central

Mindanao Colleges (CMC) Junior Professional Criminologist Association of the Philippines' (JPCAP) in collaboration with the CCJE Student Council has successfully conducted the community extension activity, "PAGPANGANDAM 2024: F.I.R.E. (Fire Incident Readiness Education): A Seminar on Fire Prevention and Safety," held in Barangay Sinsuat, Poblacion, Kidapawan City, Philippines, on May 23, 2024. With the theme "Igniting Community Safety by Empowering Every Home, One Drill at a Time," the seminar aimed to enhance community preparation, mitigate fire risks, and promote a culture of safety within barangays.The term "Pagpangandam," derived from Cebuano, translates to "Preparation." This embodies the core objective of the seminar, emphasizing the importance of readiness and proactive measures in safeguarding communities against fire incidents.The purpose of such activities is to actively engage with local communities, equip them with essential knowledge and skills, and empower them to take proactive measures in ensuring their safety and well-being. Through collaboration and education, these initiatives aim to build stronger, more resilient communities capable of effectively responding to various challenges, including fire incidents."Our commitment to public safety goes beyond academic pursuits. Cultivating Meaningful Conversations: CMC in the Global Dialogue on Faith and Politics

July 19, 2025 – Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), through its Center for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL), proudly participated in the “International Learning Session on Faith, Fandom, and Political Culture in the Philippines” held via Zoom. This thought-provoking session was organized by the Social Sciences Cluster and its Department of Sociology and Development Studies, the Graduate School, and the Ateneo Internationalization for Mindanao Office, in collaboration with the Philippine Sociological Society. It brought together scholars, educators, and learners who share a common interest in understanding the intricate intersections of faith, popular culture, and the evolving landscape of political ideologies in the country. A key highlight of the session was the keynote lecture delivered by Dr. Lou Antolihao, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the National University of Singapore. CIAL Commends CABME’s RE: SEARCH PITCHFEST 2025 for Advancing SDG-Aligned Innovation and Community-Driven Research

Kidapawan City, Cotabato – The Center for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL) of Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) lauds the successful conduct of RE: SEARCH PITCHFEST 2025, the flagship research activity of the College of Accountancy, Business, and Management Education (CABME) held on July 17–18 and July 23–24, 2025, at the CMC Annex Campus. The event served as a significant platform for student-led research and innovation rooted in social relevance and international frameworks, particularly the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With the theme “Empowering Communities through Business Innovation and SDG-Aligned Research,” the pitchfest brought together over 50 student research groups from CABME’s major programs—Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, and Management Accounting. These groups presented community-responsive business concepts offering real-world solutions in areas such as environmental sustainability, economic inclusion, digital innovation, and ethical business practices. CIAL commended the initiative for demonstrating CMC’s commitment to global citizenship education, internationalization-at-home, and research that responds to both local and global priorities. The event showcased the institution’s values of interdisciplinary collaboration, sustainability, and impact-oriented innovation. The pitchfest officially opened with a compelling message from CABME Student Council Governor Janna M. Sison, who encouraged fellow students to view research as a powerful tool for social innovation and transformation. This was followed by a message of support from Dr. Cynthia S. Asuncion, School President, who reaffirmed CMC’s institutional mission to empower future professionals through education that is socially grounded and globally responsive. In recognition of excellence, special awards were conferred to outstanding groups whose research outputs exemplified creativity, clarity, and impact. The Best Research Pitch was awarded to the group that demonstrated overall excellence in research execution, while the Most SDG-Aligned Project recognized the team whose proposal most effectively integrated sustainable development goals into their business model. The Most Innovative Business Concept honored a group with a bold, novel solution to a pressing community issue, and the Best in Presentation Delivery was given to the team that exhibited outstanding clarity, confidence, and professionalism during their pitch. These awards honored student groups whose outputs demonstrated creativity, feasibility, impact, and strong alignment with the SDGs—further reinforcing CABME’s goal of transforming student research into actionable, community-oriented solutions.The activity was jointly organized in collaboration with the Center for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL), Institute for Research, Publication and Community Extension (IRPCE), and the Student Success Center (SSC). Empowered Youth, Global Vision: PRISM Leads CMC’s ASEAN Month Efforts

In response to CHED Regional Office XII’s call to celebrate the 58th ASEAN Month, Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) took the lead in organizing a preparatory meeting for Cotabato Province and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao on August 6, 2025, at the CMC Annex Campus in Kidapawan City. The initiative was spearheaded by the Center for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL) in close partnership with PRISM-Passionate and Responsive Individuals for Strategic Internationalization and Sustainable Development in Mindanao, the official student organization under CIAL. The preparatory meeting gathered International Relations Officers (IROs), ASEAN focal persons, and student representatives from higher education institutions across Cotabato Province and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to coordinate collaborative contributions to the IZN and TNHE Caravan. The Caravan is part of the ASEAN Month’s Week 4 celebration, themed “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” and highlights internationalization efforts, student innovations, MSME booths, and cultural exchanges. At the center of these preparations were PRISM student volunteers, who took full ownership of the event’s logistics and technical support. From managing registration and documentation to assisting with the program flow and technical setup, PRISM showcased the potential of empowered student leadership in institutional activities aligned with global engagement. Cristoper D. Fernando, President of PRISM, emphasized the importance of student involvement in shaping the direction of internationalization at the grassroots level. “We are proud to be given the opportunity to lead this initiative. As students, we bring energy, creativity, and fresh perspectives to the table. Our participation in the ASEAN Month celebration is a chance to show that young people can be drivers of international collaboration and sustainable development-not just passive observers,” he shared during the meeting. CMC also presented its proposed contributions for the upcoming celebration, including an MSME product exhibit featuring locally made goods from Kidapawan City, a cultural showcase highlighting Mindanao’s rich heritage, student innovation booths with interdisciplinary projects, and engagements on Transnational Higher Education (TNHE) and Internationalization (IZN) through panel discussions and expo-style activities. The active involvement of PRISM in planning and coordination is a reflection to CMC’s institutional commitment to building student agency and nurturing globally minded leaders. The milestone was made possible through the unwavering support of CMC’s active and supportive stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, Principals, Deans, Program Heads, Institute and Center Heads, Administrators, Faculty Members, and Student Leaders, whose unity and commitment reflect the strength of the CMC community.Dr. Victor G.
