Student Journalism at
Central Mindanao Colleges

Every institution has stories worth telling, voices deserving an audience, and experiences that shape its collective memory. At Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), student publications form an essential part of the institution's intellectual, creative, and communicative life. Through campus journalism, scholarly discourse, literary expression, and multimedia storytelling, these publications provide meaningful opportunities for emerging journalists, writers, editors, and creative communicators to explore issues, document institutional experiences, and contribute to a more informed academic community.

Across graduate, collegiate, and Senior High School levels, CMC student publications cultivate journalistic competence through research, news gathering, editorial writing, interviews, photography, digital storytelling, and responsible media production. Their work extends beyond documenting campus events to examining relevant concerns, engaging diverse perspectives, and strengthening the relationship between accurate information and meaningful public communication. Through participation in editorial activities, professional learning experiences, journalism competitions, and collaborative media initiatives, student journalists develop the intellectual independence, technical proficiency, and professional discipline necessary to navigate contemporary journalism.

The Center for Student Success (CSS) provides institutional management, monitoring, regulation, coordination, and developmental guidance for recognized student publications, promoting organizational accountability, compliance with institutional policies, and responsible editorial practices. In collaboration with relevant academic units and the Center for Marketing and Strategic Communications (CMSC), student publications also contribute to institutional communication and multimedia learning opportunities while maintaining their respective journalistic identities. Collectively, their educational contributions advance Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) through media literacy, professional skills development, credible information, and meaningful student participation.
