Anchored in the CMC CARES Social Responsibility Program and its flagship institutional community extension program, Pag-amUmmah, these engagements strengthen collaboration among students, faculty, personnel, academic units, partner institutions, and communities.
The Center for Social Action (CSA) serves as the central institutional office responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the community extension and social responsibility initiatives of Central Mindanao Colleges.
Through CMC CARES and Pag-amUmmah, the Center provides institutional leadership and coordination in implementing culturally responsive, inclusive, and sustainable community development programs.
Working collaboratively with academic units and community partners, the CSA ensures that community extension activities respond to identified local needs, align with institutional priorities, and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Center also oversees partnership development, service participation, program documentation, impact assessment, and institutional reporting to strengthen accountability, continuity, and the long-term sustainability of community engagements.
Through the Center for Social Action, CMC implements community extension and development initiatives that promote inclusive education, community health, environmental sustainability, livelihood development, peacebuilding, and social inclusion.
Advances peace education, literacy and numeracy programs, Madaris instructional support, Indigenous Peoples education, digital literacy, and culturally responsive learning initiatives that expand educational opportunities.
Supports community health education, mental health awareness, psychosocial assistance, nutrition education, family wellness, and other initiatives that respond to the health and well-being needs of partner communities.
Promotes environmental stewardship, disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, water and sanitation awareness, and community-based initiatives that encourage sustainable environmental practices.
Strengthens community capabilities through financial literacy, entrepreneurship training, cooperative development, digital skills, and livelihood initiatives that support economic self-reliance.
Advances peace education, intercultural dialogue, human rights awareness, restorative justice, community safety, and inclusive engagement that strengthen social cohesion and respect for cultural diversity.
Encourages students, faculty, and personnel to participate in community extension activities that integrate academic learning, professional competencies, responsible citizenship, and meaningful service.

Pag-amUmmah is the flagship institutional community extension program of Central Mindanao Colleges, designed to address interconnected concerns in peace education, Madaris education, Indigenous Peoples education, and Muslim community development.
Anchored in inclusivity, compassion, and shared humanity, the program promotes intercultural understanding, human dignity, social cohesion, and sustainable peace.
Pag-amUmmah evolved from the UMMAH para sa Kalinaw Project, a priority extension initiative introduced in 2023 by the College of Teacher Education and the Center for Internationalization and Linkages. It has since been institutionalized as a unifying community extension framework implemented across CMC’s academic units.
The program connects discipline-based expertise with community needs, supporting sustained collaboration and inclusive development among partner communities.
