At Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), this commitment finds expression through the Institute for Culture
and the Arts (ICA), the institution's premier center for artistic excellence, cultural heritage
preservation, creative innovation, and international cultural engagement.
Established in 2013, the Institute serves as an academic and cultural hub dedicated to discovering
artistic potential, developing creative leadership, advancing cultural scholarship, and preparing
students to become globally competent, culturally grounded, and socially responsible artists and cultural
advocates.
Inspired by the enduring legacy of Esperanza Sabulao, affectionately known as Lola Panching, and
established under the leadership of Madame Marivic Q. Pascual, MAEd, ICA upholds the belief that culture
and the arts are essential to education, personal development, cultural identity, and community progress.
The Institute brings together artistic training, academic inquiry, heritage preservation, creative
production, scholarship opportunities, and community partnerships within an integrated framework for
student development.
Its programs connect aspiring artists with professional learning experiences, creative platforms,
cultural institutions, and opportunities for regional, national, and international engagement.
Rooted in Mindanao's rich cultural heritage and enriched by the diversity of Philippine artistic
traditions, ICA promotes creative expression that respects cultural identity while embracing contemporary
practice and global perspectives.
More than a center for artistic development, ICA is a community of creators, performers, cultural
advocates, and emerging leaders committed to excellence, identity, and service.
Its continuing work reflects a central conviction: artistic achievement gains greater significance when
it preserves heritage, expands opportunities, strengthens understanding, and contributes to the common
good.
