Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) launched "Hearts Day" on September 13, 2024, an initiative designed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and camaraderie among its employees. Held at the CMC Quadrangle, the program aims to promote a healthy and dynamic workplace by encouraging staff to engage in regular physical activities.Organized by the Office of Human Resource Development and Management in collaboration with the Center for Holistic Health, "Hearts Day" will take place every Friday and feature activities such as Zumba dance, volleyball, and basketball. These sessions are designed to help employees break from their daily routines, promoting both physical and mental wellness.Further, "Hearts Day" is more than just a wellness program—it’s an opportunity to strengthen bonds among colleagues, promoting teamwork and social interaction. Held on October 25, 2024, the session, Mental Health Awareness and Stress Management in the Workplace, brought together selected 33 employees to explore practical methods for self-care and stress relief. Spearheaded by the Guidance Services and Testing Center (GSTC) in collaboration with the Office of Human Resource Development and Management, the session featured clinical psychologist Dr. Flordeliza M. Buhay, whose impactful work across Mindanao has championed mental health awareness and community resilience. “Mental health is the foundation upon which resilience and joy are built,” Dr. Buhay noted, inspiring participants to see mental health as essential to both personal and professional life.Dr. Buhay, recognized for her compassionate approach as a Psychotherapist-Consultant and administrator of School For Life Montessori, introduced participants to the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), a mindfulness-based approach that combines gentle physical stimulation with mental focus. Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), through its Center for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL), proudly celebrates the participation of its student leaders in the Emerging Young Leaders Program (EYLP): YSEALI Learns MOOC Camp on Developing, Mentoring, and Supporting Youth Leadership, held on July 18–19, 2025 in Davao City. Out of 189 applicants, only 27 youth leaders from the Davao Region and across Mindanao were selected as fellows for this prestigious initiative. Among them is Cristoper Dinopol Fernando, President of CMC Passionate Individuals for Responsive & Strategic Internationalization towards Sustainable Development in Mindanao (PRISM), along with other passionate student leaders from CMC, whose participation was made possible through the endorsement and support of CIAL. The two-day program brought together U.S. university professors, development professionals, and prominent YSEALI and United States Government (USG) alumni to guide fellows through sessions on civic leadership, community-based initiatives, and sustainable development. Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond: Strengthening Philippine–Japan Friendship for Sustainable Futures

Kidapawan City, Philippines — Central Mindanao Colleges, through its Center for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL) and its student-led arm PRISM (Passionate and Responsive Individuals for Strategic Internationalization and Sustainable Development in Mindanao), partnered with the Mindanao Children’s Library (MCL) Foundation, Inc. to mark International Youth Day 2025 with a celebration of youth leadership, cross-cultural friendship, and sustainable development. Anchored on this year’s theme, Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond: Strengthening Philippine–Japan Friendship for Sustainable Futures, the event highlighted the strong and enduring bonds between the Philippines and Japan. Japanese guests and long-time MCL partners joined the celebration, reflecting years of friendship, shared initiatives, and mutual support. The program also emphasized Central Mindanao Colleges’ continuing collaborations with Japan, including Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) programs and previous academic and cultural exchanges that have welcomed Japanese educators and cultural advocates to Mindanao. As part of their visit, the Japanese guests were welcomed through a campus tour that included visits to key CMC offices and a sharing session with administrators, faculty, and students. Among them is Cristoper Dinopol Fernando, President of CMC Passionate Individuals for Responsive & Strategic Internationalization towards Sustainable Development in Mindanao (PRISM), along with other passionate student leaders from CMC, whose participation was made possible through the endorsement and support of CIAL. The two-day program brought together U.S. university professors, development professionals, and prominent YSEALI and United States Government (USG) alumni to guide fellows through sessions on civic leadership, community-based initiatives, and sustainable development.
