Central
Mindanao Colleges (CMC), in partnership with the City Health Office of
Kidapawan, successfully conducted Paggiya: Empowering Youth, Promoting
Wellness, and Bridging Global Perspectives on December 17, 2024, at Nursery
Phase 2, Kidapawan City. This initiative targeted adolescents aged 13 to 19,
integrating health promotion, education, and global awareness in alignment with
CMC’s vision of being a premier academic institution providing holistic
education in pursuit of global excellence.
The
event also embodied the institution’s mission of providing quality instruction,
developing innovative research, and engaging in responsive extension programs.
It aimed to empower participants, foster social responsibility, and advance
sustainable development goals, particularly SDGs 3 (Good Health and
Well-being), 4 (Quality Education), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The
Adolescent Health Assessment conducted by the City Health Office of Kidapawan
formed a critical component of the program. This activity focused on addressing
the physical and mental health needs of the participants, reinforcing the
importance of preventive care and early health interventions.
To
complement these efforts, CMC’s Guidance and Testing Center facilitated a
seminar on mental health awareness and personal development. This session
equipped youth participants with essential skills and knowledge to strengthen
their emotional well-being and navigate life’s challenges effectively.
The
Center for Holistic Health supported the event by providing health screenings
that offered practical health management insights. Additionally, PRISM
(Passionate Individuals for Responsive and Strategic Internationalization
toward Sustainable Development in Mindanao) added a global dimension to the
event by hosting an international-themed photobooth, which encouraged cultural
appreciation and broadened the global perspectives of the participants.
This
program reflects CMC’s unwavering commitment to its mission of engaging in
responsive extension programs and producing socially responsible individuals
who can contribute to both local and global communities. Through Paggiya, CMC
demonstrated the transformative impact of collaborative and holistic approaches
to youth development, highlighting the institution’s ability to bridge local
initiatives with global priorities.
The
success of Paggiya underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in
advancing sustainable development. By working closely with the City Health
Office and leveraging its internal resources, CMC provided a comprehensive
platform for empowering youth and promoting wellness. This collaboration serves
as a model for future programs that aim to create lasting and meaningful
change.
Paggiya
stands as a testament to CMC’s pursuit of global excellence through holistic
education. By integrating health, education, and internationalization into a
unified initiative, the program directly aligned with the institution’s vision
and mission. It reaffirmed CMC’s role as a catalyst for positive change,
inspiring the next generation to embrace their responsibilities within both
local and global contexts.
Through
programs like Paggiya, CMC continues to uphold its commitment to producing
competent and socially responsible individuals equipped to contribute to the
advancement of their communities and the world at large.
