In
observance of Stress Awareness Week, Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) held a
transformative event titled “PAG-AMUMA” on November 6, 2024, led by the CMC
Psychology Department and the Psychology Student Council.
This
initiative aimed to raise awareness about stress management and mental health,
offering essential tools for students across various academic programs to
handle the pressures of daily life.
The
event featured an insightful webinar by Jessa Mariae G. Redome, Rpm, focusing
on the importance of emotional resilience. This was followed by a practical
Psychological First Aid Training conducted by Mr. King James T. Lacro.
Ryan
James S. Quezon, President of the Psychology Student Council, stated, “This
event is a testament to our collective commitment to mental health awareness.
It also showed how we, as future professionals, can contribute meaningfully to
our community.”
CMC’s
dedication to nurturing student well-being aligns with its commitment to
holistic education and Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and
Well-being), 4 (Quality Education), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Through
initiatives like PAG-AMUMA, CMC continues to promote a supportive learning
environment where academic achievement and mental well-being go hand in hand.
As
Ms. Lea Sapphira L. Suron, RPm, Program Head of the Psychology Department,
emphasized, “We strive to create an environment where every CMCian feels
empowered, supported, and ready to face life’s challenges with resilience.”
