Water, Wellness, and Wonder: Transforming Malugasa Elementary School, One Step at a Time!
The
Graduate School Education Student Council (GSESC) of Central Mindanao Colleges
(CMC), in collaboration with various institutional partners, spearheaded
Project STAR 2: Shaping Tomorrow’s Achievers with Resilience. With the theme
“Empowering Futures, Enriching Lives,” the initiative aims to uplift the
educational environment and overall well-being of the students at Malugasa
Elementary School Carmen, North Cotabato on December 16, 2024.Project
STAR 2 focused on addressing fundamental challenges in the school community,
including access to clean water, proper nourishment, and quality education. The
project’s highlights include the installation of a water filtration system, the
donation of 150 school supply kits by the CMC Senior High School Department,
and the distribution of toys and 200 snack packs courtesy of Dawn’s Café. This
effort underscores a commitment to promoting sustainable development and
community care.This
outreach program is the result of a united effort among several CMC
organizations and stakeholders. Joining forces with the GSESC were the Center
for Social Action, the Senior High School Department, the Junior People
Management Association of the Philippines (JPMAP), GSE alumni, CMC Library, and
CMC Spectrum, the Graduate School’s official publication. Together, these
groups demonstrated how collaboration can amplify impact in service to
vulnerable communities.“The
resilience and potential of the students at Malugasa Elementary School inspire
us to do more. Through initiatives like Project STAR, we aim to empower not
just today’s learners, but tomorrow’s leaders,” said Mr. Christian Melaño,
GSESC President, emphasizing the council’s vision for creating a meaningful
difference in marginalized communities.This
initiative reflects CMC’s steadfast commitment to achieving the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health
and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17
(Partnerships for the Goals). Through Project STAR 2, the institution
exemplifies its core values of promoting community-driven solutions, enriching
lives, and promoting sustainability. Likewise, CMC continues to pave the way
for innovative and compassionate initiatives that transform lives, proving once
again that education is not confined to the classroom but extends into the
heart of the community.By
