Central
Mindanao Colleges (CMC) participated in the international webinar series titled
"Culture and SDG," featuring Dr. Abdul Latiff Ahmad from the
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The webinar, held on July 25, 2024 via
Microsoft Teams, was organized by the United Kingdom-Malaysia. It aims to
establish a global partnership for the student mobility program of 2023–2024.
Dr.
Abdul Latiff Ahmad, the Guest Speaker of the said event, emphasized the
fundamental role of culture in shaping our identity and driving human-centered,
inclusive, and equitable development. He highlighted that integrating culture
into development policies is important for achieving the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs).
Dr.
Ahmad elaborated that culture and creativity can significantly contribute to
the economic, social, and environmental pillars of sustainable development. He
stressed that these dimensions, in turn, help safeguard cultural heritage and
nurture creativity.
CMC's
participation in this webinar underscores its dedication to aligning its
activities with the SDGs. This alignment enhances the quality of education and
instills a sense of global responsibility among students. Furthermore, it
promotes sustainable practices and encourages students to actively engage in
addressing pressing global issues.
The
institution is setting a benchmark for integrating the UN Sustainable
Development Goals into its organizational student activities, reflecting CMC's
commitment to internalization, quality, and excellence through CMC Student
Sucess Center formerly Office of Student
Affairs and Services.
