CMC GSESC Leads 'Duaw sa Duwow' Initiative

The CMC Graduate School Education Student Council (CMC GSESC) led the 'Duaw sa Duwow' Initiative on May 4, 2024, partnering with Duwow Elementary School in Barangay Manobo, Magpet, Cotabato. Derived from the Cebuano term "Duaw," which means visit, this community visit was more than a one-time event; it was a commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.

In support of this commitment, the GSESC officers facilitated the provision of vegetable seedlings for 'Gulayan sa Paaralan,' recognizing the important role of sustainable agriculture in enhancing food security and promoting nutrition within the community. Additionally, they distributed solar light bulbs, acknowledging the importance of reliable lighting in empowering rural communities, enhancing safety, and extending productive hours for educational and economic activities.

"Despite the challenging one-hour trek to reach the community, there was a sense of fulfillment echoing within us, which made us realize the significance of our commitment to service and community engagement," shared GSESC officer Trisha Karl Rellon.

To cap off the visitation, they have organized a community dance, promoting social cohesion and celebrating shared cultural heritage, led by the GSESC officers. The impact of 'Duaw sa Duwow' has extended beyond the event itself, showcasing CMC's dedication to social engagement and partnership-building. With this activity, it has empowered lives and strengthened connections, leaving a lasting impression in our communities.

The said visit was in coordination with the CMC-Center for Social Action (CSA). The CMC CSA serves as the core of community engagement and social responsibility initiatives with core programs on Education, Health, Livelihood and Environment. CSA reinforces the CMCs role as a catalyst for positive change within its community and beyond.
