CMC Champions Diversity and Inclusion at United in Diversity Summit

Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), with strong support from the CMC Center for International Affairs and Linkages, proudly participated in the United in Diversity Summit on August 30, 2024, held at the MPLC, CCFC Building, Ateneo de Davao University. This summit, an event of the Our Stories, Our Voices Campaign Project, marked the dual celebration of International Youth Day and Women’s Equality Day.

Represented by the CMC Student Success Center, CMCian Student Leaders, the CMC Gender and Development Office, and the CMC Communications Office, CMC’s involvement highlighted its commitment to promoting a culture of diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

The summit was a significant platform for dialogue and action, featuring insightful sessions such as "Exploring USPH: Opportunities and US Government Alumni Insights," which provided participants with valuable perspectives on international collaboration and leadership.

"Voices of Resilience: Stories from Victim-Survivors" offered a powerful testament to the strength and courage of individuals overcoming gender-based violence, while the "Empowerment Workshop: Co-Create, Collaborate, and Call to Action" energized attendees to actively engage in advocacy and community-building initiatives.

The event culminated in "Fostering Global Understanding: A Cross-Cultural Exchange Panel," which facilitated meaningful exchanges between diverse cultural perspectives, promoting a deeper understanding of global issues.

Organized by the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, U.S. International Exchange Alumni - Philippines, and other partners, the summit also featured the Our Stories, Our Voices Exhibit. This exhibit showcased compelling stories from women, youth, persons living with disabilities (PLWDs), and LGBTQ+ individuals, all of whom have been affected by gender-based violence. Through these stories, the exhibit highlighted the ongoing struggles and resilience of marginalized communities, emphasizing the urgent need for societal change.

CMC’s active participation in the summit not only reflects its dedication to empowering students and fostering leadership but also reinforces its role as a key player in promoting gender equality, social justice, and global understanding. With this engagement, CMC continues to make meaningful contributions to the broader community, advocating for a more inclusive and equitable society.
