“We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.” ― Herman Melville
Central Mindanao Colleges signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Holy Cross of Davao College during a ceremony on November 22, 2022, at the HCDC Conference Room, Davao City. The partnership will benefit both colleges through joint curricular programs, collaborative research, and student and faculty exchange opportunities.
CMC and HCDC unit heads and College deans have also witnessed the signing of both parties as represented by their respective School Presidents: Br. Noelvic H. Deloria, S.C. for Holy Cross of Davao Colleges and Dr. Cynthia S. Asuncion for Central Mindanao Colleges.
The partnership highlights the development of academic cooperation in any discipline studied by both institutions and promotes mutual understanding between CMC and HCDC. Further, the exchange between the two institutions of students at the undergraduate or graduate level, academic and administrative staff are geared towards exchanges of data, documentation, and research materials in the field of mutual interest and foster collaboration of such activities as joint research, mobilizing resources for research, lectures, seminars, symposia, conferences.
Furthermore, it also includes the provision of briefing services by each institution for visitors from the other institutions; and other forms of cooperation that the two institutions may jointly arrange.
“This partnership not only helps us to expand our global network but allow us to work with HCDC to solve shared problems and build a brighter future for both institutions,” said Dr. Mark Gennesis Dela Cerna, Director for Center for Internationalization and Linkages.
HCDC is one of the prestigious schools for maritime education in the Davao Region. The college has been working to ensure a higher level of maritime education and training in the nation for many years. In keeping with this, the college has introduced the Erasmus+ maritime education mobility program. This program has enabled students to have a great opportunity to experience and gain exposure to the global community through the maritime education mobility program offered by Erasmus+. In addition, the endeavor has given more opportunities to study at several maritime institutions and universities throughout Europe. Ms. Sheryl Urdaneta, heads the HCDCs Center for Linkages, Internationalization, and Language Studies. She has recently shared the details of the mobility program for maritime education under Erasmus+ during the European Higher Education Fair 2022.
CMC CIAL supports CMC’s engagement in international affairs as it embraces a diversified cultural environment, the development of new knowledge, and cutting-edge strategic partnerships. The center works to establish and monitor institutional linkages and partnerships with local and foreign academic and non-academic institutions to initiate local and international programs, projects, and activities. It also works to collect quarterly, maintain regularly, and monitor the records of local and international linkages and collaborations of all offices of the institution. Additionally, it intercepts and reinforces extra-curricular foreign exchange programs, international conferences, training, workshops, and other related activities; allows the application processing for CMC graduate and undergraduate students, as well as alumni members who are committed to studying abroad and continuing their education. Last but not least, it aids in processing the essential documents for CMC teachers and researchers as well as partner foreign institutions engaged in national and international research collaborations.
