๐Ÿ”ตExploring the Dynamics of Peace Research in Local Communities: ๐Œ๐ฌ. ๐‹๐ž๐ง๐š ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ก๐ฌ, who holds the role of Research and Communications Manager at Forum ZFD Philippines, offered valuable insights derived from their practical experiences in peace research within the Mindanao region. Forum ZFD, originally established in 1996 in response to the Balkan crisis, is dedicated to providing assistance to individuals affected by conflicts, aiding them in their journey towards lasting peace. Ms. Lena Muhs serves as the Research and Communications Manager of Forum ZFD Philippines, an international non-governmental organization (INGO) committed to supporting those entangled in violent conflicts, and guiding them toward a harmonious resolution. The inception of Forum ZFD in 1996 was a response to the turmoil in the Balkans, and since then, the organization has remained steadfast in its mission to facilitate the cessation of war and violence.

๐Ÿ”ต๐Œ๐ฌ. ๐‰๐ฎ๐›๐š๐ข๐ซ๐š ๐€๐›๐š๐ฌ, shared her valuable experiences in spearheading Multisectoral Action Research initiatives focused on youth education and the resolution of rido conflicts. In her current capacity, Ms. Abas serves as the Research and Advocacy Officer at TASBIKKa, Inc. TASBIKKa, Inc. is a non-governmental organization situated in Parang, Maguindanao, and holds the esteemed status of being an accredited private sector organization (PSOs) under the aegis of the Bangsamoro Economic Development Council (BEDC).

๐Ÿ”ต๐Œ๐ซ. ๐‰๐จ๐ž๐ฅ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ณ๐จ๐ง shared his insights regarding the Key Impact Areas of Equal Access International โ€“ Philippines (EAI PH), emphasizing their major programs and the integral role of formative research in evaluating existing violent extremist influencers and networks. This research encompasses a comprehensive understanding of the target audience, encompassing their demographics and communication methods, as well as gaining insights into their aspirations and the pathways that lead to radicalization and empowerment. Additionally, the analysis seeks to characterize vulnerable populations susceptible to such influences. Mr. Dizon currently serves as the Program Manager at Equal Access International โ€“ Philippines, an organization that stands as a robust #PartnerForPeace in collaboration with the Al Qalam Institute, Ateneo de Davao University. Itโ€™s noteworthy that the Institute serves as the host organization for their #OURmindaNOW Davao Messaging Hub.

๐Ÿ”ต ๐Œ๐ซ. ๐Š๐ž๐ฏ๐ข๐ง ๐๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ญ๐š๐ง, based in Davao City, presented a comprehensive study on the Development and Contributions of the Oldest Masjid in Davao City, thereby shedding light on the theme of โ€œPeace Research in Schools: Mainstreaming Peace in Academic Research.โ€ Mr. Bonotan currently holds the position of Head of the Office of Student Affairs at Holy Cross of Davao College, where his passion for historical research and studies is evident. This session provided a platform for him to share his expertise and insights.

September 1-2, 2023 at Central Mindanao Colleges, Kidapawan City

In celebration of Peace Consciousness Month 2023, the Al Qalam Institute of the Ateneo de Davao University (AQI) in partnership with Central Mindanao Colleges-Official (CMC) spearheads this 2-day conference which features Peace Researches (Day 1) and Peace Education Interventions (Day 2) in schools and communities of local and international researchers, academic institutions and non-governmental organizations which contribute to the greater cause for sustainable peace and development in Mindanao.

This hybrid event is a component of the KEEP Peace Project: Empowering Mindanao Youth through Formation, Instruction, Research, and Engagement of the Al Qalam Institute with the support of the GIZ โ€“ Civil Peace Service (GIZ-CPS). The event has gathered administrators, faculty, and students from SHS, College, and Graduate Schools of state and private academic institutions as well as officials and volunteers of non-governmental and peopleโ€™s organizations in Mindanao.
