CMC Professional Education Students Complete Field Study at Pikit National High School
Central Mindanao Colleges Professional
Education students completed their Field Study at Pikit National High School,
marking an important milestone in their preparation for the teaching profession
and bringing classroom-based learning closer to the realities of actual school
practice.
What began as an academic requirement
became a formative experience shaped by observation, interaction, reflection,
challenge, and growth. Through direct exposure to the school environment, the
students gained a clearer understanding of how teachers manage classrooms,
respond to learner needs, carry out professional responsibilities, and
translate educational principles into everyday practice.
The Field Study experience gave the
students opportunities to observe real teaching situations, engage with school
personnel and learners, and see firsthand the demands and responsibilities that
come with becoming an educator. These encounters helped them connect
professional education concepts with the actual work of teaching.
CMC extends its appreciation to Pikit
National High School for opening its doors to the students and providing an
environment where they could learn from authentic classroom experiences and the
daily work of practicing educators.
Special recognition is given to Mr.
Abdulkadir K. Buda, School Principal,for his guidance and support throughout
the Field Study experience, Mr. Al-Rashid A. Nul for his encouragement and
assistance, and Mr. Oliver B. Miniano for his patience, continued guidance, and
support.
The students likewise expressed their
sincere gratitude to their Cooperating Teachers, whose willingness to share
their knowledge, experiences, and professional insights helped deepen the
students’ understanding of teaching, classroom management, learner engagement,
and professional responsibility.
Central to the journey was the guidance of
their Field Study Instructor, Dr. Mark Gennesis Dela Cerna, whose dedication,
patience, and mentorship helped make the experience more purposeful and
professionally relevant. His guidance supported the students as they reflected
on what it means not only to teach, but to carry the responsibility of shaping
learning experiences for others.
More than a requirement for completion,
Field Study serves as a critical bridge between theory and practice. It allows
future educators to observe the profession closely, learn from experienced
teachers, examine classroom realities, and develop the discipline, perspective,
and professional readiness expected of those who will eventually lead their own
classrooms.
The experience supports SDG 4: Quality
Education through practice-based teacher preparation, SDG 5: Gender Equality by
reinforcing inclusive and equitable learning environments, and SDG 17:
Partnerships for the Goals through the collaboration between Central Mindanao
Colleges and Pikit National High School in preparing future educators.
The Field Study journey may be complete,
but the journey toward becoming a teacher continues. The lessons gained,
relationships formed, and experiences encountered at Pikit National High School
now become part of the students’ professional foundation as they move closer to
the classrooms they hope to serve.
From observing classrooms to understanding
the calling of the profession, CMC future educators move forward with greater
purpose, preparation, and responsibility.
