Central Mindanao Colleges brought together
employees from the Academic, Administration, and Accounting and Finance sectors
for WORKWISE: Empowering Employees Through Workplace Rights and Welfare, held
on August 28, 2026, at Building 9, CMC Main Campus. More than a labor education
seminar, WORKWISE reflected the institution’s commitment to strengthening its
human capital through informed, protected, responsible, and empowered
employees.
Organized by the Center for Human Capital
Development and Management (CHCDM) in coordination with the Department of Labor
and Employment (DOLE), WORKWISE underscored a clear institutional direction:
investing in human capital means investing in people who understand their
rights, fulfill their responsibilities, and contribute to a workplace grounded
in fairness, dignity, accountability, and respect.
The learning session was led by Paula
Victoria L. Ben, LEO III, who discussed workers’ rights and benefits under
existing labor laws and regulations, gender equality and gender-sensitive
workplace practices, anti-discrimination, and the shared responsibilities of
employers and employees in maintaining a fair, safe, respectful, and inclusive
workplace. These topics formed the core of the seminar program prepared in
coordination with DOLE.
The participation of employees from
Academics, Administration, and Accounting and Finance gave the seminar an
institution-wide perspective, reinforcing that workplace rights, respect,
accountability, and fair treatment are shared responsibilities across all areas
of the College.
Beyond explaining legal provisions, the
session helped employees better understand how workplace rights and
responsibilities apply to everyday professional situations. Discussions also
addressed respectful conduct, equal treatment, prevention of discriminatory
practices, and appropriate ways of raising workplace concerns.
An open forum followed the main
discussion, giving participants an opportunity to ask questions, seek
clarification, and relate workplace policies and labor standards to situations
they may encounter in the course of their work.
WORKWISE also reinforced the shared role
of employees and management in maintaining a workplace where dignity, fairness,
accountability, and respect are practiced. CMC strengthened its workforce with
practical knowledge of labor rights, responsibilities, and workplace standards
that can support responsible conduct and sound decision-making.
The activity advanced SDG 8: Decent Work
and Economic Growth, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice
and Strong Institutions, connecting employee education with fair employment
practices, equal treatment, and responsible institutional governance.
Through WORKWISE, Central Mindanao
Colleges affirmed that human capital is not strengthened by skills alone, but
by employees who are informed, respected, protected, and empowered to uphold a
fair and responsible workplace.
Choose CMC,
where excellence roars.
