The CMC College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence by actively participating in the Public Orientation and Writeshop on the Implementation of the Enhanced Table of Specifications (TOS) for the Licensure Examination for Criminologists (LEC). Held in Cagayan de Oro City on May 11-12, 2024, the event provided an invaluable opportunity for CMC’s CCJE to engage with the latest strategies and insights for the LEC, further cementing its role as a leader in criminology education.

Organized by the Professional Regulatory Board of Criminology in cooperation with the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines (PCAP, INC), the seminar brought together representatives from eight regions across the Visayas and Mindanao. Dr. Rolando D. Poblador, President of the Region XII Council of Deans and Dean of CCJE at CMC, along with faculty member Ms. Shaira Jane O. Campaña, attended the event, underscoring CMC’s dedication to maintaining the highest standards in criminology education.

The two-day seminar covered three main topics essential for understanding and implementing the enhanced TOS for the LEC. These included the considerations in issuing the TOS, essential principles for its implementation, and the rules on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) test question formulation. Topnotch speakers such as Hon. Ramil G. Gabao, Chairman of the PRB Criminology, and Hon. Warren M. Corpuz, PRB Member, provided valuable insights.

Participants engaged in two Writeshop Activities designed to refine their understanding of the TOS for the Criminologist Licensure Examination. These sessions, which focused on identifying key topics and formulating OBE test questions, were presented and critiqued by a panel of examiners from the PRB Board.

The Criminal Justice Education program at CMC is pioneering progress by embracing the latest strategies for the LEC. Through this participation, CMC aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of its faculty and students, ultimately leading to better outcomes in the licensure examinations and contributing to the advancement of criminology education in the Philippines.
