With CMC’s commitment to embracing a culture of research, the Holy Cross of Davao College – Institute of ASEAN-European Studies (IAES) has invited Central Mindanao Colleges through the Center for International Affairs and Linkages with the event: The Art of Doing Research in Germany a Seminar-workshop with Dr. Monica Frohlich on January 9, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the 7th floor Sedes Sapientiae, Holy Cross of Davao College. CMC Research and Publication Staff Julienne Kate N. Kintanar participated in the said event. “My takeaways from this session include information on research and how it is done. It also highlighted the Basics of Research, Research Design, Methods of Research, Research Making, Secondary Data Utilization, Exploratory Research, Methods and other sources for Research, Research Techniques, Qualitative Research-Grounded Theory, Statistical Methods and Software, and Theoretical Framework. Moreover, the seminar also discussed organizations in Germany that fund research projects and individual research.” Kintanar shared. The Resource Speaker Dr. Monica Fröhlich is a Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Representative, at the University of the Philippines, Department of European Languages, Diliman, Quezon City. One of DAADs’ tasks is to award scholarships to university members in the Philippines. In addition, the DAAD provides information about studies and research in Germany.
Alongside, Dr. Monica Frohlich had her information-sharing session with representatives on January 10, 2023, from Holy Cross Davao City, San Pedro College, University of Southeastern Philippines, Central Mindanao Colleges, Davao de Oro State College, Kolehiyo Ng Pantukan, Philippine Women’s College, University of the Immaculate Conception, University of Mindanao – Digos City, and Brokenshire College. Central
Mindanao Colleges was represented by its CMC CIAL Director, Dr. Mark Gennesis dela Cerna, and the CMC College of Teacher Education’s Dean, Dr. Jaymie A. Rellon. The info-sharing session has aimed to empower the HEIs with information about academic opportunities in Germany, exchange insights, observations, and experiences related to the internationalization of HEIs, and provide networking and linkage opportunities. Through the active leadership of CIAL Director Dr. Mark Gennesis Dela Cerna, the CMC CIAL has been collaboratively reaching out to other schools, colleges, universities, and agencies from within and beyond the regional border, seeking critical support and
direction to create the CMC’s internationalization and linkage framework. The HCDC IAES events are a collaboration with DACUN Internationalization and Linkages Committee (DACUN-ILC) and in partnership with the DAAD the German Exchange Service.
