Central Mindanao Colleges in collaboration with UPN Veteran Jakarta Hosts Successful International Learning Session as Part of Inaugural Student Mobility Program
Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) in collaboration with UPN Veteran Jakarta marked a significant milestone on May 2, 2024, with the successful implementation of its inaugural student mobility program, the “International Learning Session” as part of its LIYAG: International Academic and Cultural Exchange (I ACE) Program. The event saw Mr. Kenny Lloyd Angon, a Master of Arts in Education student from CMC, embarking on a journey to the UPN Veteran Jakarta campus as part of this pioneering initiative.
Mr. Kenny’s visit included a tour; which was an enriching experience filled with opportunities for cross-cultural dialogue and academic exchange. At the heart of the program was an International Learning Session, where Mr. Kenny had the privilege to delve into crucial topics surrounding peace and development.
During this session, Mr. Kenny delivered insightful lectures on “The Bangsamoro Peace Process: Then and Now” and “Peace Education in Schools and Communities in Mindanao, Philippines.” His expertise and passion for these subjects captivated the audience, sparking meaningful discussions and fostering deeper understanding among participants.
The event was graced by esteemed figures such as Dr. Bambang Susanto, MA Director of the Office of International Affairs at UPNVJ, who conveyed international greetings, and Dr. Mark Gennesis Dela Cerna, Director for International Affairs and Linkages of CMC, who presented the implementing policies for the I ACE program through an online platform.
Dr. Gemma Kintanar, Dean of the Graduate School of CMC, also extended her acknowledgments, underscoring the collaborative spirit driving this initiative forward.
Despite the challenges posed by geographical distances, the event transcended boundaries through the power of technology. While participants from CMC joined virtually via Zoom, Mr. Kenny had the privilege of being onsite at the UNP Veteran Jakarta campus, bridging the gap between cultures and fostering international camaraderie.
The success of the inaugural LIYAG: I ACE Program was further amplified by the diverse participation from other educational institutions. Representatives from Rizal Memorial Colleges in Davao City, Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges of General Santos City, AMA Learning Center College of Marbel, North Valley College, Inc. of Kidapawan City, and Stratford International School came together, enriching the experience with their unique perspectives and insights.
As Central Mindanao Colleges continues to champion global engagement and academic excellence, the LIYAG: I ACE Program stands as a manifestation of its commitment to nurturing future leaders equipped with a global mindset and a deep understanding of pressing societal issues.
