A
healthier workplace begins when caring for people becomes part of the
institution’s culture.
KIDAPAWAN
CITY, COTABATO, August 14, 2026. Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), through the
Center for Guidance Services and Testing (CGST), conducted KALMAsean: Care
Beyond Borders: Empowering CMC Employees through Stress Management at the CMC
Accreditation Room, a face-to-face seminar-workshop designed to equip employees
with practical strategies for managing workplace stress, strengthening
resilience, and sustaining personal and professional well-being.
Held
in celebration of ASEAN Month 2026, KALMAsean draws inspiration from the values
of cooperation, resilience, and people-centered development. The initiative
recognizes that institutional excellence is strengthened when the people behind
it are supported, empowered, and equipped to navigate workplace demands in
healthy and constructive ways.
The
seminar-workshop enabled participants to better understand workplace stress and
its physical, emotional, and psychological effects, identify common workplace
stressors, develop healthy coping strategies, and strengthen resilience through
self-care, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and positive work-life
practices. It likewise promoted a supportive, compassionate, and mentally
healthy workplace culture among CMC employees.
Serving
as resource speaker was John Leonard H. Latido, MPsy, RPm, CHRA, a Registered
Psychometrician and Certified Human Resource Associate with expertise in
Industrial and Organizational Psychology, employee well-being, gender
sensitivity and equality, and youth empowerment. His professional engagements
include mental health, personality development, conflict management, workplace
well-being, and resilience-building.
Through
interactive discussions, self-assessment activities, relaxation techniques, and
resilience-building exercises, KALMAsean moved beyond simply recognizing
stress. It provided employees with practical approaches applicable to both
their professional and personal lives while strengthening self-awareness,
healthy coping mechanisms, and workplace relationships.
CMC
School President Dr. Cynthia S. Asuncion emphasized the institutional
importance of investing in employee well-being: “When we care for the
well-being of our employees, we strengthen the entire CMC community. A
resilient institution begins with people who feel supported, valued, and
empowered to serve with purpose.”
KALMAsean
was spearheaded by the CGST team composed of Renz Wally C. Amualla, MPsy, RPm;
Eugine Bacumo, RPm; Irish Dane Labajo, RPm; and Lovely Mae Cabanlig, reflecting
the Center’s continuing commitment to nurturing healthy, resilient, and
empowered members of the CMC community.
The
initiative directly advances SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, particularly
through the promotion of mental and emotional well-being. More importantly, it
reinforces CMC’s recognition that employee wellness and institutional
effectiveness are interconnected.
Because
sustainable institutions are built not only by people who perform well, but by
people who are well. When an institution cares for those who serve, well-being
becomes more than a workplace initiative. It becomes a foundation for
resilience, meaningful service, and enduring excellence.
Care for People.
Strengthen
Resilience.
Sustain
Excellence.
Choose
CMC,
where excellence roars.
