CMC Kicks Off COIL AP26 with ECC Kokusai College of Foreign Languages, Japan

Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), through the Center for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL), officially commenced the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) AP26 under the LIYAG Banner Program on July 6, 2026, marking another milestone in the institution’s continuing commitment to internationalization and global learning.

Implemented in partnership with With The World (WTW), the program brought together students from Central Mindanao Colleges and ECC Kokusai College of Foreign Languages, Japan, providing a dynamic virtual platform where learners could connect, communicate, and engage in meaningful intercultural dialogue beyond geographical boundaries.

The opening session revolved around the theme “My Favorite Month,” inviting participants to share the months that hold special significance in their lives. Through conversations about festivals, family traditions, memorable experiences, celebrations, and personal milestones, students discovered both the diversity and commonality of their cultures while developing mutual respect, understanding, and lasting friendships.

More than an online exchange, COIL AP26 provides students with authentic opportunities to develop intercultural competence, effective communication skills, global perspectives, and collaborative abilities that prepare them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected and multicultural world. The program exemplifies CMC’s commitment to creating transformative learning experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom.

Aligned with the College’s internationalization agenda, the initiative advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive and globally connected learning experiences, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by providing equitable opportunities for intercultural engagement, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening international collaboration among higher education institutions and global education partners.
