Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) held an exploratory meeting on
Microcredentialing through Certiport's Industry-Based Certification Programs at
4:00 PM via Zoom. The meeting was attended by the Vice President for Academic
Affairs (VPAA), deans, program heads, and invited guests.
The discussion
focused on strengthening CMC’s initiatives in advancing student employability
through microcredentials and industry-based certifications. Certiport
representatives presented their globally recognized certification programs
designed to validate practical skills in areas such as information technology,
business productivity tools, entrepreneurship, and other workforce-relevant
competencies.
During the meeting,
academic leaders emphasized the importance of aligning curriculum offerings
with industry standards and global workforce demands. The integration of
microcredentialing was highlighted as a strategic step toward enhancing
graduates’ competitiveness in both local and international job markets.
In addition, it was
noted that the Center for Job Placement (CJP) and the Center for Alumni Affairs
(CAA) will serve as benchmarking units for the proposed implementation of the
program. These offices are expected to provide best practices and institutional
alignment in ensuring that the microcredentialing framework supports both
academic quality and employability outcomes.
The deans and program
heads actively engaged in the discussion, sharing perspectives on how the
program can be embedded into existing academic structures without compromising
curriculum integrity while maximizing student opportunities for certification and
career readiness.
This initiative
reflects CMC’s continuing commitment to innovation, internationalization, and
quality education. By exploring Certiport’s industry-based certification
programs, the institution reinforces its mission to equip students with
globally competitive skills and future-ready credentials.
The exploratory
meeting aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,
particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic
Growth, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals, underscoring CMC’s dedication
to advancing inclusive, relevant, and globally aligned education.
