CMC, FPOP Hold Health Awareness Drive on GAD, Responsible Choices

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines | Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), in partnership with the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines–SOCCSKSARGEN (FPOP) and with the support of the CMC Gender and Development (GAD) Office, conducted a two-day health awareness initiative on September 7–8, 2026, at the CMC Main and Annex campuses.

The activity brought together students, employees, and other members of the academic community to promote awareness of physical, psychological, emotional, and social well-being while encouraging informed and responsible health-related decision-making.

The program was carried out through PSYCHSERVE: A Health and Social Services Booth Providing Health Education and Information Support for CMCians, organized by second-year Bachelor of Science in Psychology students under their Developmental Psychology (PSY202) course, in partnership with FPOP and the CMC school health services.

Participants were given access to health information and guidance on preventive practices, personal well-being, and responsible choices. The activity also emphasized the importance of maintaining an academic environment where health information is accessible, respectful, and responsive to the diverse needs of the community.

A key dimension of the program was its alignment with Gender and Development (GAD) principles. With the support of the CMC GAD Office, the activity strengthened awareness of health equity, gender sensitivity, informed decision-making, and shared responsibility for well-being, while reinforcing the importance of inclusive and respectful access to appropriate health information and support.

For the BS Psychology students, the activity also provided an opportunity to apply concepts from Developmental Psychology (PSY202) through community-based health education and direct engagement with members of the campus community.

The initiative supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being through preventive health education, SDG 4: Quality Education through experiential learning, SDG 5: Gender Equality through gender-responsive access to health information, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration among academic, institutional, and community health stakeholders.

The two-day activity demonstrated how academic learning, health services, gender-responsive programming, and external partnerships can work together to strengthen health awareness, informed decision-making, and well-being within the CMC community.
