CMC CIAL and PRISM Join ASEAN Month 2026 Celebration and Receive CHED Commendation for CMC

Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), through the Center for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL) and Passionate and Responsive Individuals for Strategic Internationalization and Sustainable Development in Mindanao (PRISM), actively participated in the ASEAN Month 2026 activities and was represented during the ASEAN Month 2026 Awarding and Culmination Program held on August 27, 2026.

As part of the regional celebration, CMC was assigned as Team Leader for Group 3 – Indonesia in the Cotabato Area 1, providing CMC with an opportunity to actively contribute to the celebration of ASEAN culture, friendship, and cooperation.

Among the activities participated in by the CMC delegation was the Youth Amazing Race, where CMC student representatives Cristoper D. Fernando and Sulpicio M. Barase took part in the exciting challenge representing the Indonesia team. Supporting the activity as station managers were Ms. Desiree D. Gayramara, together with Sofia Elizabeth P. Saladan and Blessy Faye Pauline Canete, who contributed to the successful implementation of the activity.

The participation of CMC in the Youth Amazing Race provided students and youth representatives with an engaging avenue to develop teamwork, communication, cultural appreciation, and camaraderie while strengthening the spirit of ASEAN friendship. Beyond competition, the activity encouraged participants to connect with fellow youth from different institutions and celebrate the shared values that bring ASEAN communities together.

CMC’s participation extended beyond the Youth Amazing Race, as CIAL and PRISM likewise took part in the various activities of the ASEAN Month 2026 Expo and celebration, contributing to the promotion of internationalization, cultural understanding, and meaningful engagement among higher education institutions and youth organizations in the region.

The active participation of CMC was further highlighted during the ASEAN Month 2026 Awarding and Culmination Program, where the Center for International Affairs and Linkages received a Certificate of Commendation on behalf of Central Mindanao Colleges from the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XII (CHEDRO XII).

The Certificate of Commendation recognizes CMC for its enduring commitment toward the internationalization of Philippine higher education and its exemplary performance in globally recognized rankings and ratings. The recognition specifically cited CMC's performance in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 – 1001–1500 range.

The commendation likewise recognized CMC’s exemplary performance in national licensure examinations, particularly the achievement of Coney Jeyhon Embalzado Ranis, who placed 9th in the Licensure Examination for Teachers – Secondary Level during the September and November 2025 examination period, with an outstanding 93.20% rating.

The recognition from CHEDRO XII reflects the collective efforts of the CMC community in advancing academic excellence, internationalization, sustainability, and institutional development. It affirms that the College’s participation in regional and international initiatives goes hand in hand with its continuing pursuit of quality education and meaningful institutional achievements.

The ASEAN Month 2026 experience likewise demonstrates the value of providing students with opportunities to actively engage in regional initiatives. Through activities such as the Youth Amazing Race and other ASEAN-centered programs, CMC students and representatives were able to experience firsthand the importance of collaboration, cultural understanding, teamwork, and regional solidarity.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, CMC’s participation supports SDG 4: Quality Education by providing meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by promoting intercultural understanding and inclusive engagement, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration among higher education institutions, government agencies, youth organizations, and regional partners.

The ASEAN Month 2026 celebration also reinforces CMC’s commitment to developing globally minded and socially responsive students who are prepared to engage with diverse communities and contribute meaningfully to an increasingly interconnected world.
