KIDAPAWAN CITY —
Student leaders, employees, and members of the Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC)
community came together on September 7–8, 2026, at the CMC Main and Annex
Campuses in a meaningful initiative promoting greater awareness of health,
well-being, responsible decision-making, and access to reliable health
information.
Recognizing that
awareness plays a vital role in building a healthy and socially responsible
academic community, the initiative provided members of the CMC community with
an accessible space to learn more about physical, psychological, emotional, and
social well-being.
The activity
emphasized the importance of health education as a tool for empowerment,
encouraging students and employees to become more informed about preventive
health practices and responsible choices. It also highlighted the need to
create a respectful and inclusive environment where individuals can access
appropriate information and guidance without fear of stigma or judgment.
Through the
participation of various members of the academic community, the initiative
reinforced the importance of collective responsibility in promoting a culture
that values health, dignity, inclusion, and well-being.
In line with the
principles of Gender and Development (GAD), the activity also strengthened
awareness of the importance of equitable and respectful access to health
information and services. By encouraging informed decision-making and
responsible choices, the initiative contributes to creating a community where
individuals are empowered with knowledge regardless of gender and are
encouraged to take an active role in their overall well-being.
The initiative
supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and
Well-Being, which promotes healthy lives and well-being for all, as well as SDG
5: Gender Equality, which emphasizes inclusion, respect, and equitable access
to opportunities and essential information. It also reflects SDG 17:
Partnerships for the Goals through meaningful collaboration among stakeholders
committed to advancing community health and education.
The gathering further
demonstrated CMC's commitment to holistic education, recognizing that learning
extends beyond the four walls of the classroom.
With this initiative,
the institution continues to nurture not only academically competent
individuals but also responsible and socially conscious members of society.
The health and
well-being awareness initiative was made possible through PsychServe: A Health
and Social Services Booth Providing Health Education and Information Support
for CMCians, initiated by the Second-Year BS Psychology students under their
Developmental Psychology (PSY202) subject, in partnership with the Family
Planning Organization of the Philippines–SOCCSKSARGEN (FPOP) and the CMC school
health services.
Through meaningful
partnerships, accessible information, and a shared commitment to awareness,
Central Mindanao Colleges continues to take steps toward building a healthier,
more informed, inclusive, and empowered CMCian community.
