CMC Field Study Students Complete School-Based Immersion at Alamada High School

Central Mindanao Colleges Field Study students reached a significant milestone in their preparation as future educators after successfully completing their school-based immersion at Alamada High School, transforming classroom concepts into firsthand understanding of teaching, learning, and professional responsibility.

What began as an academic requirement became a formative experience that placed the students within the actual environment of the profession they are preparing to enter. Throughout their Field Study journey, they observed classroom instruction, participated in school activities, interacted with learners and teachers, and gained a closer view of the daily work, decisions, and responsibilities of educators.

The immersion gave the students opportunities to connect educational theories with actual classroom situations. Their exposure deepened their understanding of instructional practices, classroom management, learner diversity, professional conduct, and the importance of responsiveness in meeting the varied needs of learners.

Their journey was guided by Field Study Instructor Dr. Mark Gennesis Dela Cerna, whose direction, reminders, encouragement, and sustained support helped the students navigate the requirements and learning experiences of the program from deployment to completion.

CMC CTE also expresses its appreciation to Ms. Nena D. Cabaya, School Head of Alamada High School, for opening the school community to the Field Study students and allowing them to learn within an authentic basic education setting.

Recognition is likewise extended to Ms. Bai Donna R. Pagrangan, MT-II, SHS Coordinator, for her guidance and assistance, and to Ms. Pebe A. Dulos, HT-III, and Mr. Mario C. Naces, HT-I, for their support and encouragement throughout the students’ stay at the school.

A vital part of the Field Study experience came from the cooperating teachers who welcomed the students into their classrooms and shared their practices, professional insights, feedback, and experiences. Their mentorship gave the students a closer understanding of the realities of teaching and the discipline, patience, preparation, and accountability the profession demands.

Beyond observation, the Field Study experience strengthened the students’ professional awareness and affirmed the importance of learning directly from practicing educators. It gave them a clearer picture of the kind of teacher they are expected to become prepared, reflective, responsible, learner-centered, and committed to continuous improvement.

The completion of the immersion also reflects the value of strong school partnerships in teacher preparation. Through the cooperation between Central Mindanao Colleges and Alamada High School, future educators are given opportunities to experience the profession before assuming full classroom responsibilities.

The initiative supports SDG 4: Quality Education by advancing practice-based teacher preparation and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through sustained collaboration between higher education and basic education institutions.

As the Field Study students close this chapter, they carry forward more than completed requirements. They leave with lessons from real classrooms, insights from experienced educators, stronger professional awareness, and a clearer sense of purpose as they move closer to becoming teachers themselves.
