As we continue raising awareness and strengthening advocacy in child welfare, the National
Authority for Child Care (NACC), through the Regional Alternative Child Care Office XII
(RACCO XII), in collaboration with the City Social Welfare and Development Office
(CSWDO). The SAFE Orientation (Social Work Advocacy for Families and Empowerment)
held at Kidapawan City Convention Hall, June 14, 2025.
The event brought together Social Work students through the Region, Central Mindanao
Colleges (CMC) and North Valley College Foundation Incorporated (NVCFI) participate in
the event to deepen their understanding of adoption and alternative child care systems in
the Philippines. The orientation aligned with the nationwide observance of Adoption and
Alternative Child Care Week 2025, emphasizing the important role of advocacy in
transforming the lives of children and families.
With the theme “Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges: Social Work Advocacy in Action,” CMC
BSSW are proud to announce that their student-produced video for the Adoption and
Alternative Child Care Week 2025 Video Contest was hailed as Champion, rising above all
entries in the region.
Throughout the orientation, participants engaged in lectures and discussions on the legal
framework, processes, and psychosocial aspects of adoption and parental care, and heard
real-life stories from child care professionals and families touched through the adoption
journey. The activity also provided a space for students to reflect on their future
responsibilities in promoting child welfare and protection.
This event aligned with CMCs Commitment SDG 4: Quality Education, this enlighten social
work students sense of purpose—this event highlights that social work is more than a
profession, but a calling to uplift, empower, and connect lives.
