AKAI CMC Karatedo Team Delivers Strong Medal Run at Kalivungan 2026

Competition reveals more than technical skill. It tests composure, discipline, recovery, and the ability to perform when preparation is finally placed under pressure.

The AKAI CMC Karatedo Team turned preparation into podium results during the Karate Pilipinas-sanctioned Kalivungan 2026 Karatedo Tournament held on August 15–16, 2026, at the Provincial Covered Court, Capitol Compound, Amas, Kidapawan City. The tournament formed part of the 112th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Cotabato under the theme “COTABATO @112: A Legacy of Peace, Progress, and Unity.”

The team produced multiple medal finishes across individual kata, individual kumite, and team kumite events. Regin Carl Chino Caruana secured gold in the +76kg Juniors Men Individual Kumite and silver in Team Kumite. Vinz Lynard Peniero captured gold in the -60kg Individual Men Kumite and silver in Team Kumite, while Jizel Chinnji Sarmiento earned gold in the -75kg Individual Men Kumite and silver in Team Kumite.

A standout performance came from JC Anne Mariz Quimanhan, who earned gold in both Senior Individual Kata and -55kg Individual Female Kumite, along with silver in Team Kumite. Gabriel Cadungon, Jayphol Bañaria, and Carlh Patrick Catotal also contributed silver finishes in Team Kumite. Ana Grace Acosta secured bronze in the -50kg Individual Female Kumite and silver in Team Kumite, while Mae Ann Navarro added silver in the 18 Years Old and Above Novice Female Individual Kata, silver in Team Kumite, and bronze in the -50kg Individual Female Kumite.

Under Coach Angelyn Garcia, the team’s performance reflected the training culture strengthened by the Center for Athletic Development, where athletic preparation is reinforced by discipline, resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The achievement also supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 4: Quality Education, recognizing sports as an important avenue for physical development, character formation, and learning beyond the classroom.

For CMC, the significance of Kalivungan 2026 goes beyond the medal table. It demonstrates what sustained preparation can produce when skill is matched by discipline, confidence is tested by competition, and athletes carry both performance and character into the arena.
