Psyche Up 2026 Advances Student Success Through Purposeful Voices and ASEAN Perspectives
Student success grows when learners are given the confidence,
space, and responsibility to turn ideas into voices that inform, persuade, and
inspire action.
Central Mindanao Colleges, through the Psychology Student
Council in collaboration with the COPsy 103 – Principles of Public Speaking
class and the Center for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL), conducted
Psyche Up 2026: A Showcase of Young Voices, Ideas, and ASEAN Perspectives on
August 17, 2026, at the CMC Students’ Activity Center. The activity carried the
theme “Ideas Without Borders, Voices Without Limits, Empowering ASEAN Youth.”
Held in observance of ASEAN Month, Psyche Up 2026 gave
Psychology students an authentic platform to express ideas, perspectives, and
advocacies while reflecting the values of unity, cooperation, shared
responsibility, and respect for diversity across the ASEAN community.
As the culminating outcome-based performance for COPsy 103,
participants delivered individual three-minute memorized persuasive speeches.
Each student was challenged to present a clear position, organize ideas
logically, build convincing arguments, and communicate with confidence,
precision, and ethical responsibility.
The showcase also strengthened the students’ use of verbal and
nonverbal communication, audience awareness, critical thinking, creativity, and
stage presence. ASEAN-inspired attire further connected the activity with
regional identity and cross-cultural appreciation.
With 46 participants, Psyche Up 2026 moved public speaking
beyond a classroom exercise and into a real performance setting where students
could apply what they had learned, respond to an audience, and communicate
ideas with purpose.
More importantly, the activity strengthened competencies
valuable to Psychology students in academic, professional, and community
settings. Through persuasive speaking, participants developed confidence,
ethical communication, critical reasoning, and the ability to present
advocacies relevant to Psychology, youth empowerment, and the wider ASEAN
context.
The initiative advanced SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being
through advocacies related to psychological and community well-being, SDG 4:
Quality Education through applied communication learning, SDG 16: Peace,
Justice and Strong Institutions through responsible and respectful dialogue,
and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration among students,
faculty, CIAL, and other institutional stakeholders.
At CMC, student success means helping learners find their
voice, communicate with confidence, and use their knowledge to engage issues
that matter. Through Psyche Up 2026, Psychology students showed that a
well-prepared voice can become a powerful instrument for understanding,
advocacy, and meaningful participation beyond the classroom.
