LIYAG Program Expands Learning Beyond Borders Through GSE Field Based Experiential Learning in Bohol

Thirty six (36) students embarked on a meaningful journey to the Province of Bohol from May 25 to 28, 2026, through the LIYAG Program under the Graduate School Education (GSE) Field Based Experiential Learning (FBEL) initiative. The four day educational immersion aims to provide students with firsthand learning experiences beyond the four corners of the classroom by exposing them to historical landmarks, cultural heritage sites, environmental destinations, and community centered tourism initiatives across Bohol.

Implemented through the Center for International and Local Affairs (CIAL), the LIYAG (Lipad + Layag) Program continues to promote transformative and experience driven learning opportunities that allow students to connect academic theories with actual educational practices, cultural appreciation, and community based learning environments.

The first day of the activity began with the students’ departure from Davao City to Panglao, Bohol, followed by a warm welcome from the tour coordinators upon arrival. The group then proceeded to the renowned Bohol Bee Farm for a buffet lunch and an introduction to sustainable eco tourism practices and locally produced organic products.

The educational tour officially commenced with visits to some of Bohol’s most iconic cultural and historical destinations, including the breathtaking Hinagdanan Cave, the historic Blood Compact Shrine, and the centuries old Baclayon Church, one of the oldest stone churches in the Philippines known for its rich Spanish colonial architecture and religious significance.

More than just a travel experience, the GSE FBEL initiative serves as an avenue for experiential learning, cultural appreciation, and personal growth. Through the LIYAG Program, students are encouraged to become globally aware, socially responsible, and academically enriched individuals equipped with real world perspectives and meaningful experiences.

As Central Mindanao Colleges continues to strengthen its commitment to transformative education and internationalization, initiatives such as the LIYAG Program and GSE FBEL reaffirm the institution’s dedication to producing future ready learners through immersive and experience driven educational opportunities.
