"It is okay to not be okay. What matters
is knowing that you are never alone."
Hope begins when
someone listens. Healing begins when someone cares. Change begins when a
community chooses to stand together.
The Center for
Guidance Services and Testing (CGST) of Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC)
officially launched its month-long mental health awareness campaign, “Kaya Pa
Today: A Month of Hope and Support,” on May 30, 2026, at the Students' Activity
Center.
The activity brought
together students, employees, and representatives from various student
organizations to promote mental wellness, emotional well-being, and a culture
of support within the academic community.
The opening program
featured Mr. Renz Wally Amualla, Guidance-in-Charge, as the resource speaker.
He shared valuable insights on mental health awareness, self-care, emotional
wellness, and the importance of seeking help when facing academic, workplace,
and personal challenges.
During his
presentation, he emphasized the importance of understanding one's emotions,
developing healthy coping strategies, and building supportive relationships.
"Mental health
is not a sign of weakness but a reflection of our humanity. It is part of what
makes us human. When people know they have someone to listen, understand, and
support them, it becomes easier to face life's challenges with hope and courage."
The launch marked the
beginning of a series of psychoeducational sessions, wellness campaigns,
interactive discussions, and engagement activities throughout the month. These
initiatives aim to increase awareness of mental health concerns, encourage
healthy coping practices, and strengthen resilience among students and
employees.
Recognizing the
pressures experienced in academic and workplace settings, the campaign promotes
open conversations about mental health, reduces stigma, and strengthens
awareness of available support systems.
The initiative
supports:
SDG 3 – Good Health
and Well-Being
SDG 4 – Quality Education
SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
The program also
aligns with the institution's wellness initiatives under KRA 10 and KPI 10.1.5,
focusing on participation in mental health promotion and wellness programs.
Through “Kaya Pa
Today: A Month of Hope and Support,” the Center for Guidance Services and
Testing continues to advance mental health awareness and wellness within the
institution, reflecting Central Mindanao Colleges' commitment to creating a
supportive environment where students and employees are encouraged to care for
their mental well-being, seek assistance when needed, and contribute to a
campus culture grounded in respect, understanding, and mutual support.
