PHD-Eliberation: Where research, leadership, and scholarly excellence converge

Ideas become impact when research is defended with purpose.

The Philosophy in Education major in Educational Leadership (PHDEL) students successfully conducted their Final Thesis Defense in the subject Advanced Research Design and Scholarly Inquiry (PhD 801) through the online academic platform, “PHD-Eliberation: Online Research Final Defense,” on May 7, 2026.

The culminating academic undertaking provided doctoral students with the opportunity to present and defend their research studies before a distinguished panel of educators and research experts, demonstrating scholarly rigor, critical inquiry, and research competence in the field of educational leadership.

The activity was facilitated by Dr. Dianne Mariz O. Tanudtanud, instructor of PhD 801, whose mentorship and academic guidance supported the students throughout their research journey. Serving as panel reactors were Dr. Brandon Obenza, Dr. Gideon Sumayo, and Dr. Gemma N. Kintanar, Dean of the Graduate School. The activity was also attended by Dr. Jaymie Rellon, PHDEL Program Head, who expressed support and encouragement to the doctoral students.

Seven groups of PHDEL students participated in the final defense, including a group from American Samoa, reflecting the program’s collaborative and globally connected academic environment.

More than a course requirement, the final defense became a meaningful scholarly experience that challenged students to articulate their findings, justify methodological frameworks, respond to critical academic discourse, and strengthen the publication readiness of their studies.

The successful conduct of “PHD-Eliberation” reflects the Graduate School’s continuing commitment to research excellence, global engagement, and the formation of transformative educational leaders capable of contributing meaningful and evidence-based knowledge to contemporary educational landscapes.

Aligned with SDG 4 on Quality Education, the initiative reinforces Central Mindanao Colleges’ commitment to advanced research, academic innovation, and globally responsive graduate education.
