Every
March, institutions across the country pause to recognize the invaluable
contributions of women and to reaffirm the ongoing pursuit of gender equality.
In 2026, the Gender and Development CMC deepens this observance through Purple
Wednesday: Choose Purple, Choose Reflect, a month-long initiative set on March
4, 11, 18, and 25.
Anchored
in the spirit of National Women’s Month and inspired by the global movement
surrounding International Women's Day, the campaign transforms four Wednesdays
into meaningful spaces for reflection, dialogue, and action.
Purple,
long regarded as a symbol of justice, dignity, and women’s empowerment, becomes
more than a color throughout the month. It becomes a visible expression of
solidarity and a quiet but powerful reminder that equality requires conscious
participation.
Purple
Wednesday is the proof of celebration must coexist with accountability.
National Women’s Month is not a time to applaud achievements but to examine
systems, attitudes, and practices that influence opportunity and inclusion. The
initiative underscores that reflection is not passive contemplation; it is an
active process that cultivates awareness, empathy, and responsibility.
Aligned
with CMCs’ commitment in nurturing student who instill the institutional
values. This event is the progress that when communities move beyond symbolism
and embrace deliberate, collective action toward equality.
