True progress in gender equality begins
when communities move beyond recognition and embrace collective action.
Each
year, National Women’s Month serves as a powerful reminder that empowerment is
not only celebrated but actively practiced through awareness, reflection, and
meaningful participation.
On
March 11, 2026, the Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) community once again
demonstrated this commitment as student leaders, center heads, administrators,
personnel, and students gathered for the second observance of Purple Wednesday.
The campus came alive with shades of purple as members of the academic
community visibly expressed solidarity for women’s empowerment and gender
equality.
Purple,
globally recognized as the color of justice, dignity, and equality for women,
stood as more than a visual expression. It symbolized a shared commitment to
fostering spaces where respect, opportunity, and inclusion are actively
nurtured within the institution.
The
strong participation of various sectors of the CMC community highlighted the
collective responsibility of promoting gender awareness. Student leaders
reinforced their role as advocates for inclusive change, while administrators,
center heads, and personnel demonstrated institutional support for
gender-responsive initiatives that strengthen the values of equality, respect,
and social responsibility.
More
than a symbolic observance, Purple Wednesday serves as a platform for
reflection and dialogue. It encourages members of the academic community to
examine attitudes, systems, and practices that shape gender relations within
educational spaces, while promoting greater awareness and empathy toward the
pursuit of equality.
As
the Purple Wednesday campaign continues on March 18 and March 25, 2026, members
of the CMC community who have not yet participated are warmly encouraged to
take part in this meaningful initiative.
Wearing
purple stands as a visible expression of solidarity, while participation in
reflection, dialogue, and awareness strengthens the institution’s shared
commitment to equality and inclusivity.
Guided
by its commitment to provide holistic and socially responsive education,
Central Mindanao Colleges continues to champion initiatives that empower
individuals and cultivate a campus culture grounded in dignity, respect, and
equal opportunity.
Aligned
with Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Sustainable
Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), the initiative promotes gender
awareness, inclusive participation, and shared responsibility in fostering
equitable and empowering educational communities.
At
Central Mindanao Colleges, advocacy goes beyond symbolic gestures. It becomes a
shared movement where the academic community reflects together, learns
together, and acts together in shaping a more inclusive and equitable future.
Choose
Purple. Choose Equality. Choose Inclusivity. Choose CMC.
