Central
Mindanao Colleges (CMC) further strengthened its international academic
partnerships through IntegriSearch: An International Seminar on Upholding
Integrity and Accuracy in Research Ethics and Data Analytics, held online via
Zoom on January 23, 2026. The activity highlighted the growing role of global
collaboration in advancing ethical, data-driven research and underscored CMC’s
commitment to internationalization through strategic partnerships.
The
international seminar was made possible through the coordination of the Center
for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL), in collaboration with the Center
for Research, Publication, and Creative Works, and in partnership with
Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU), Thailand. The initiative served
as a platform for strengthening cross-border academic cooperation focused on
research integrity, ethical standards, and responsible data analytics.
The
program opened with remarks from Ms. Ruselle Ann R. Robledo, LPT, Coordinator
of the Center for Research and Publication, who emphasized that international
research engagements facilitated through CIAL are central to CMC’s vision of
cultivating a globally responsive and ethically grounded research culture. She
highlighted that partnerships such as the one with BSRU provide meaningful
avenues for faculty and researchers to engage with international standards and
best practices.
Delivering
the Inaugural Message, Mr. Konstantinos Balis, Deputy Director of the Local
Sustainable Development Division of BSRU, emphasized the importance of ethical
research and accurate data analysis in addressing global and local development
challenges. He noted that sustained collaboration between institutions from
different countries plays a vital role in promoting shared research values,
innovation, and sustainable development.
The
seminar featured expert lectures from distinguished scholars representing
partner and local institutions. Dr. Brandon N. Obenza, Associate Professor from
Mindanao State University–General Santos, discussed core principles of research
ethics, including informed consent, data confidentiality, transparency, and
accountability. His lecture also addressed common ethical issues encountered in
academic research and provided practical insights for maintaining ethical
standards.
The
discussion on data analytics was led by Dr. Feliz Chavez, Jr., Vice President
for Academics of Brokenshire College Incorporated, who emphasized the ethical
and accurate use of qualitative and quantitative data analysis tools. He
highlighted the importance of sound methodology, proper interpretation, and
responsible reporting of research findings to ensure credibility and scholarly
impact.
The
activity concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Axil Jame Mauna, MAEd,
Secretary for Research Ethics, who reiterated that integrity and accuracy in
research are collective responsibilities strengthened through international
collaboration. He emphasized that seminars like IntegriSearch reflect CMC’s
growing network of global partners and its sustained commitment to research
excellence.
Through initiatives facilitated by CIAL, Central Mindanao Colleges continues to expand its international academic footprint. IntegriSearch stands as a testament to the value of global partnerships in advancing ethical research, strengthening institutional credibility, and fostering a culture of collaboration across borders.
