DSWD-DRMD and CMC Unite to Train Future Social Workers in Crisis Response

The Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) Junior Professional Social Workers Association of the Philippines (JSWAP) is holding the “SW-Elec 301 – Psychological First Aid and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS): A Three-Day Training and Simulation Workshop for Social Work Students” from November 12–14, 2025, at CMC Building 9.

 

In partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XII – Disaster Response and Management Division (DRMD), the training equips third-year Bachelor of Science in Social Work students with essential knowledge and skills to provide Psychological First Aid and implement Mental Health and Psychosocial Support interventions in times of crisis.

 

Featuring sessions led by DSWD experts, the program covers key topics on disaster response, the MHPSS framework, intervention models, and self-care for social workers. The activity will culminate with a simulation exercise and awarding of certificates of completion for participants who successfully finish the workshop.

 

This initiative aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)reflecting CMC Social Work’s commitment to mental health, experiential learning, and community resilience, and reinforcing CMC’s dedication to preparing future social workers who are skilled, compassionate, and ready to respond in times of crisis.
