Kidapawan
City, December 14, 2024 – Trust and accountability are essential to building
strong financial systems.
Central
Mindanao Colleges (CMC), through the efforts of the third-year Credit and
Collection class of the College of Accountancy and Business Management
Education, recently hosted “Pagkat-on: Building Trust and Accountability,” a
seminar aimed at equipping students with practical knowledge and skills in
credit management policies.
Expert
speakers Rosalie Namia Josue of Sta. Catalina Credit Cooperative and Alvin
Martin, Assistant Manager of BDO, led engaging discussions on credit policy
creation, ethical debt collection, risk management, and promoting sustainable
financial growth.
Anchored
in UN Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth),
Pagkat-on emphasized the importance of inclusive financial practices and
ethical decision-making in driving economic progress. Ms. Josue highlighted how
cooperatives promote equitable access to credit, strengthening local economies,
while Mr. Martin explored innovative banking strategies that ensure trust,
accountability, and compliance. The seminar bridged theory with practice,
providing students with actionable insights to effectively address the
complexities of the financial sector.
“‘Pagkat-on’
reflects our mission to empower students with knowledge and integrity,
preparing them to lead in a dynamic global economy,” said Dr. Maria Regina E.
Carlos, Dean of the College of Accountancy and Business Management Education.
This
initiative, led by the third-year Credit and Collection class, demonstrates
CMC’s commitment to student success, holistic education, and producing globally
competent professionals who can contribute meaningfully to sustainable economic
growth.
