On
March 6, 2024, Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) and Heavenly Culture, World
Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) came together to champion global peace. The
Memorandum of Understanding, hosted at the CMC Campus, highlighted their shared
commitment to unity with the theme "Becoming One for Peace."
Key
leaders, including HWPL Chief Branch Manager Mr. Rommel Garces and CMC School
President Dr. Cynthia S. Asuncion, emphasized the vital role of collaboration
in addressing global peace challenges. Ms. Esperanza Dela Cruz, Peace
Coordinator of HWPL Peace Education Philippines, presented an overview of the
Capacity Building Program.
The
ceremony saw participation from CMCian College Deans and Program Heads, Unit
heads, and student leaders from various educational levels, including Senior
High School, College, and Graduate School, all uniting to support the
initiative for global peace. In response to the groundbreaking HWPL and CMC
MOU,, they have actively participated in an inaugural lecture series dedicated
to promoting inter-religious understanding and peace.
Led
by the Religious Peace Academy (RPA), initiated by HWPL, the sessions provided
a transformative experience where participants, representing diverse segments
of the community such as Muslim, Christian, and Indigenous Peoples, converged
to explore scriptures and exchange ideas.
With
lectures delivered by prominent figures from Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism,
Islam, and Sikhism, the RPA aimed at deepening understanding and respect for
diverse beliefs. The RPA seeks to promote peace among religions by resolving
conflicts and fostering harmony and cooperation among different faith
communities globally.
The
initiative was spearheaded by the Center for International Affairs and
Linkages, led by its Director Dr. Mark Gennesis B. Dela Cerna, showcasing their
commitment to global cooperation. The Office of Student Affairs and Services
joined forces, intensifying its impact by engaging student leaders.
Looking
ahead, CMC and HWPL pledged to collaborate on initiatives promoting cultural
understanding and nurturing future peace ambassadors. This partnership marks a
significant step toward global harmony. Through joint efforts such as peace
projects and workshops, they aim to cultivate a culture of peace and
inclusivity, providing a beacon of hope for a brighter tomorrow.
As
CMC stands as a beacon of education, its mission transcends academic pursuits,
embodying a vision of shaping young future leaders imbued with the values of
peace and inclusivity.
The
MOU signing and establishment of the inaugural lecture series symbolize a
significant commitment by CMC beyond its institutional borders. Together, they
offer not just a promise, but a tangible path toward realizing a future where
unity and cooperation prevail, reflecting the true essence of CMC's mission and
purpose in the region and beyond.
