CHEDRO XII, RQAT Conduct Monitoring and Evaluation of CMC Graduate Teacher Education Programs

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines | Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) welcomed the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XII (CHEDRO XII) and the Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) for the monitoring and evaluation of its Graduate Teacher Education Programs on September 8, 2026, at the CMC Accreditation Room.

The assessment formed part of the institution’s continuing quality assurance processes, providing an opportunity to review program implementation, academic standards, support systems, institutional resources, and compliance requirements relevant to graduate teacher education.

The visiting team included Dr. Rowena Sosas and Dr. Jeanne Y. Aure, RQAT members; Dr. Zohrahaydah N. Panawidan, Chief Education Program Specialist of CHEDRO XII; and and Dr. Annabelle Roda-Dafielmoto, Assistant Chief Education Program Specialist of CHEDRO XII.

CMC President Dr. Cynthia S. Asuncion delivered the welcome address before the formal introduction of the CHEDRO XII and RQAT team and the CMC delegation.

“We welcome this monitoring and evaluation as an important part of our continuing commitment to quality. External review allows us to strengthen what we do well, address areas that can still be improved, and pursue excellence through openness, accountability, and continuous learning.”

– Dr. Cynthia S. Asuncion, President

The program proceeded to the evaluation proper, followed by the synthesis and exit meeting involving the visiting evaluators, CMC management, and the Master of Arts in Education team.

As part of the monitoring activity, the team also visited the CMC Annex Building to examine facilities and learning spaces supporting the delivery of graduate education programs. The visit complemented the review of academic resources, institutional support systems, and the learning environment available to graduate students.

The engagement also reflected CMC’s continuing Quest for Excellence, a direction emphasized by Dr. Victor G. Quiambao, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Directors. His message highlighted that excellence is not a one-time achievement, but a sustained institutional commitment grounded in continuous improvement, accountability, and the willingness to subject academic programs to rigorous review and higher standards.

The activity concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Gemma N. Kintanar, Dean, who expressed gratitude to the CHEDRO XII and RQAT evaluators, CMC management, the Graduate School Education team, and the members of the technical committee whose collective efforts supported the monitoring and evaluation process.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to our CHEDRO XII and RQAT evaluators, our institutional leaders, faculty, staff, and technical committee. We regard our accreditors and evaluators not merely as assessors, but as allies in our continuing Quest for Excellence, helping us identify our strengths, recognize areas for improvement, and move forward with greater purpose and accountability.”

– Dr. Gemma N. Kintanar, Dean

The monitoring and evaluation highlighted the importance of external quality assurance in strengthening graduate education. Beyond compliance, such processes provide institutions with evidence-based opportunities to examine academic delivery, identify areas for improvement, and sustain standards responsive to the preparation of advanced education professionals.

The engagement supports SDG 4: Quality Education through strengthened academic quality assurance and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through institutional collaboration with higher education regulatory and quality assurance bodies.

For CMC, the Quest for Excellence is sustained through evidence, accountability, partnership, and continuous improvement. Quality assurance is not simply about meeting standards. It is about strengthening graduate education so that every review becomes an opportunity to learn, improve, and move the institution forward.
