LIONS Council Planning Session Unites CMC Student Leaders for AY 2026–2027

The strength of student leadership is not found in one council alone. It grows when leaders across colleges and departments come together, listen to one another, and move toward a shared purpose.

KIDAPAWAN CITY, COTABATO, August 13, 2026. Central Mindanao Colleges convened the LIONS Council Planning Session for Academic Year 2026–2027, bringing together the CMC Collegiate Students Supreme Council (CSSC), governors and council officers from the different colleges and departments, and representatives from the Center for Student Success (CSS) and Center for Athletic Development (CAD).

The gathering reflected the broader character of the LIONS Council as a collaborative student leadership platform, creating space for representatives across the institution to contribute perspectives, strengthen coordination, clarify responsibilities, and establish a common direction for student engagement throughout the academic year.

With CSSC President Cristoper D. Fernando facilitating the student leadership coordination, the session focused on strengthening the overall direction and organization of forthcoming student initiatives. Discussions emphasized shared accountability, coordinated planning, clear responsibilities, consistency in implementation, and meaningful participation across colleges and departments.

More importantly, the session highlighted that effective campus leadership is built through representation, consultation, and collaboration. With governors and council officers from across the colleges and departments actively involved in the planning process, student leadership was reinforced as a shared institutional responsibility grounded in representation, coordination, and collective action.

The participation of CSS and CAD further strengthened the connection between student-led initiatives and CMC’s commitment to student success, leadership formation, participation, well-being, and holistic development.

The initiative advances SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

When every college has a voice, every department has a place at the table, and every student leader understands the responsibility of representation, leadership becomes stronger than any single council. It becomes a community moving with one purpose.
