Graduate School Initiates Comprehensive Review of Student Handbook Through Committee Reconstitution

Every enduring academic institution is defined not only by its people, but by the policies that uphold excellence, strengthen governance, and shape the future of learning.

The CMC Graduate School Education (GSE), in collaboration with the Center for Student Success (CSS), formally commenced the comprehensive review of the Graduate School Education Student Handbook through the reconstitution of the existing Graduate School Education Student Handbook Review Committee during its initial coordination meeting held on July 27, 2026, at the CMC Graduate School Education Conference Room.

The meeting updated the committee’s composition and established a collaborative framework for reviewing institutional policies, academic regulations, student services, and administrative procedures. Representatives from the Center for Student Success, Center for Social Action, Graduate School Education Student Council, Institute for Support Services, Center for Research, Publication and Creative Works, and the Center for Records and Admissions identified priority policy areas, defined institutional responsibilities, and outlined the roadmap for the handbook revision.

Serving as the Graduate School Education’s principal policy review body, the committee will evaluate existing handbook provisions, consolidate stakeholder recommendations, and recommend enhancements that promote clarity, accessibility, accountability, fairness, and student-centered governance, while ensuring alignment with institutional quality assurance initiatives and national standards.

Dr. Gemma N. Kintanar highlighted the significance of the initiative. “The Student Handbook is more than a collection of policies. It is a guide that reflects our commitment to quality graduate education and student success. Through collaborative leadership and shared commitment, we can develop a handbook that is inclusive, relevant, and responsive to the evolving needs of our graduate students.”

The initiative reflects Central Mindanao Colleges’ enduring commitment to academic excellence, institutional quality, continuous improvement, and good governance. It also advances SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening quality learning, transparent governance, and collaborative leadership.

As the review progresses, the CMC Graduate School Education reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that every policy advances student success and strengthens institutional excellence.

Because excellence is not merely taught. It is reflected in the policies that guide, the values that inspire, and the leaders who serve.
