CMC CIAL Joins CIRO XII Coordination Meeting for ASEAN 2026 Month-Long Celebration
Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), through the Center for
International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL), actively participated in the
Coordination Meeting for the ASEAN 2026 Month-Long Celebration convened by the
Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XII (CHEDRO XII), in
collaboration with the Council of International Relations Officers of Region
XII (CIRO XII), on July 21, 2026, at Cinco Niñas, Koronadal City. The meeting
brought together International Relations Officers and representatives from Higher
Education Institutions across Region XII to strengthen regional collaboration
and align preparations for the Philippines' ASEAN Chairship in 2026.
The coordination meeting served as a strategic platform for
discussing the ASEAN 2026 Celebration Framework, institutional roles and
participation, communication and social media initiatives, program
implementation, promotional activities, scheduling and logistics, as well as
the CIRO XII Constitution and By-Laws. The initiative reflects the collective
commitment of Region XII Higher Education Institutions to fostering regional
cooperation and advancing the internationalization agenda in preparation for
the country's ASEAN Chairship.
A significant outcome of the meeting was the designation of
Central Mindanao Colleges as Team Leader for Group 3 – Indonesia under Cotabato
Area 1. The leadership role entrusts CMC with coordinating the planning,
organization, and implementation of collaborative activities related to
Indonesia during the ASEAN Month 2026 celebration, demonstrating the
institution's growing leadership and active contribution to regional
internationalization initiatives.
CMC's participation and designation as Team Leader further
reinforce the institution's commitment to strengthening partnerships among
higher education institutions, promoting ASEAN awareness, and creating
meaningful opportunities for academic collaboration and intercultural
engagement. Through active involvement in regional initiatives, the College
continues to expand its role in advancing international cooperation while
contributing to the development of a more globally connected academic
community.
Aligned with the College's internationalization agenda, the
initiative advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,
particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting global citizenship and
regional learning opportunities, SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
by fostering regional cooperation and mutual understanding among ASEAN member
states, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration
among higher education institutions, government agencies, and internationalization
stakeholders in advancing shared educational and regional development
objectives.
As Central Mindanao Colleges continues to strengthen its
presence in regional and international engagements, its active participation in
the ASEAN 2026 coordination initiatives reflects the institution's unwavering
commitment to fostering academic excellence, regional solidarity, and
meaningful international partnerships that prepare students and educators to
thrive in an increasingly interconnected ASEAN community.
