CMC Joins COLINET in Filipiniana Online Digitization Project

Preserving the past, expanding access, and embracing digital innovation, libraries continue to play an important role in safeguarding the nation’s cultural heritage and making valuable knowledge accessible to future generations.

Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) joins fellow member libraries of the Cotabato Libraries and Information Network, Inc. (COLINET) in advancing the preservation and accessibility of Filipiniana resources through the “Filipiniana Online: Digitization and Online Accessibility of Filipiniana Resources” project.

On July 23, 2026, CMC participated in the COLINET Member Libraries Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing held at the Kundo E. Pahm Learning Resource Center (KEPLRC) of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) in Kabacan, Cotabato, bringing together representatives from academic, school, and public libraries united by a shared commitment to preserving and expanding access to Filipiniana resources.

Representing CMC were School President Dr. Cynthia S. Asuncion, Center for Learning Resource Information; Assistant Librarian Ms. Mae Ann M. Cabana, RL, and Institute for Culture and the Arts, Center for Culture and Heritage Coordinator Ms. Bea Lee Shien P. Catanus.

Their participation reflects CMC’s commitment to advancing library services while preserving the cultural and historical resources that shape the Filipino identity.

Joining CMC in the collaborative network were representatives from **the University of Southern Mindanao, Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology, Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, Colegio de Kidapawan, Kidapawan City National High School, Kidapawan City Library and Information Center, Sibug Memorial Elementary School, Southern Baptist College, Mlang National High School, Southern Christian College, Notre Dame of Midsayap College, Cotabato State University, Notre Dame Hospital & Siena College Cotabato, Inc., Notre Dame RVM College of Cotabato, Notre Dame of Cotabato, Sharif Awliya Academy, Inc., and STI College Cotabato.

The MOU signing featured the presentation and formal signing of the agreement, followed by the exchange of documents, marking a significant step toward strengthening collaboration among COLINET member institutions in digitizing and providing online access to Filipiniana collections.

Through “Filipiniana Online,” participating institutions seek to make valuable cultural and historical resources more accessible to students, educators, researchers, and communities. The project also supports the preservation of materials that document the country’s history, culture, identity, and intellectual heritage.

The initiative highlights how collaboration and digital transformation can help libraries move beyond the limitations of physical collections, allowing Filipiniana resources to reach a wider audience while ensuring their preservation for generations to come.

For CMC, participation in the project strengthens its commitment to connecting education, technology, library services, and cultural heritage. It also reinforces the institution’s role in collaborative efforts that promote knowledge-sharing and the preservation of resources that reflect the richness of Filipino culture and history.

The initiative supports SDG 4: Quality Education by expanding access to learning resources, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through digital approaches to resource preservation and accessibility, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration among libraries, educational institutions, and cultural organizations.

Through its participation in the COLINET Member Libraries MOU Signing, CMC continues to champion cultural preservation, embrace digital innovation, and expand access to knowledge, helping ensure that the stories, traditions, and resources of the past remain accessible to present and future generations.
