In a enhancing academic excellence in the field of criminal justice education, the Commission on Higher Education–Office of Programs and Standards Development (CHED-OPSD) successfully conducted a Technical Panel Evaluation for the application of Government Recognition (GR) of the Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) with Specialization in Criminology on June 9, 2025. This evaluation forms part of CHED’s quality assurance mechanism to ensure that graduate programs in Criminology across the country meet national and international academic and professional standards. Leading the panel of evaluators was Atty. Ramil Gabac, Chair of the Technical Committee for Criminology, who underscored the importance of aligning criminology programs with emerging global trends in justice and law enforcement. He was joined by committee members: Dr. Gerry Canc, Member, Technical Committee for Criminology, Dr. Estelito Dela Cruz, Member, Technical Committee for Criminology, Dr. Buenaventura Macatangay, Chief Education Program Specialist, Shiela F. Jalbuena, OIC-Supervising Education Program Specialist, Marilou L. Gregoric, Education Program Specialist II, CHED-OPSD, Dr. Rody P. Garcia, Director IV, CHED Regional Office XI The evaluation process involved a thorough review of the curriculum, instructional standards, faculty credentials, research capacity, and institutional support for the MSCJ program. The panel conducted via zoom inspections with academic leaders to assess the program’s sustainability and relevance to national development goals, particularly in the fields of peace and order, forensic science, and criminal justice reform. This aligns with Central Mindanao Colleges’ commitment to providing advanced and industry-relevant criminology education, promoting academic excellence, and producing professionals equipped to respond to the country’s dynamic public safety and criminal justice needs.
