April 21, 2026 — The
sixty-two (62) Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) students from the Central
Mindanao Colleges Graduate School of Education (CMC-GSE) successfully completed
their Field-Based Experiential Learning (FBEL) International Educational Trip
in South Korea, marking a meaningful culmination of academic immersion,
cultural engagement, and educational benchmarking activities.
The international
learning experience, conducted from April 16 to 20, 2026, provided graduate
students with structured exposure to global educational systems, innovative
learning environments, and cultural heritage sites that enriched their academic
and professional perspectives as future educators and leaders.
The FBEL program was
designed to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,
particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and
Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through this initiative,
participants gained firsthand insights into progressive educational practices
and sustainable development models that may be contextualized in local
education systems.
During the immersion,
the group visited several key cultural and educational landmarks including Nami
Island, Bukchon Hanok Village, COEX Starfield Library, N Seoul Tower, and
Gyeongbokgung Palace. A university benchmarking activity was also conducted, allowing
students to observe academic structures and institutional practices in a global
context, strengthening their understanding of international education systems.
The experience
highlighted the importance of experiential learning in graduate education,
where classroom theories are reinforced through real-world exposure and
cross-cultural engagement.
Dr. Gemma N.
Kintanar, Dean of the Graduate School of Education, underscored that the FBEL
program reflects CMC’s strong commitment to extending learning beyond the
classroom and across international borders.
As the CMC Graduate
School of Education continues to expand its international learning initiatives,
the successful completion of the South Korea FBEL program reinforces its
mission of producing competent, globally aware, and socially responsible
educators through transformative academic experiences.
