Strengthening institutional synergy and
advancing meaningful community engagement, the Center for International Affairs
and Linkages (CIAL) of Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) continues to support the
initiatives of the Center for Social Action (CSA) through its strategic
partnership with the Al Qalam Institute for Islamic Identities and Dialogue in
Southeast Asia of Ateneo de Davao University.
As the institutional arm for community
extension, CSA implements the Pag amUmmah Program, CMC’s flagship framework for
peacebuilding, inclusive development, and culturally responsive engagement with
Indigenous Peoples IP, Muslim communities, youth, and other marginalized
sectors.
Through its internationalization mandate,
CIAL strengthens CSA by integrating global perspectives, intercultural
dialogue, and international collaboration into community programs. With the
support of Al Qalam, initiatives under Pag amUmmah are enriched through
dialogue centered approaches, participatory program design, and sustainable
peace education models.
The collaboration is further strengthened
through the leadership and guidance of Sir Kenny Lloyd Lucina Angon, Deputy
Executive Director of the Al Qalam Institute, whose work in dialogue
facilitation, youth engagement, and peace education contributes significantly
to the program’s direction and sustainability. His involvement reinforces the
principle that transformation is most meaningful when institutions work
alongside communities with respect, cultural sensitivity, and shared
responsibility.
Grounded in the wisdom and values
reflected in the concept of Sir Ampuan, which signifies respect, dignity, and
honor within cultural contexts, the partnership emphasizes engagement that
upholds the identity and voice of Indigenous and Muslim communities. This
approach ensures that programs are not merely delivered but co created in
collaboration with stakeholders.
This initiative contributes directly to
the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 on
Quality Education, SDG 10 on Reduced Inequalities, SDG 16 on Peace, Justice,
and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. By aligning
local action with global standards, CMC ensures that its community engagement
initiatives remain inclusive, research informed, and impact oriented.
Anchored on the CMC CARES framework which
stands for Collective Care, Action for Peace, Responsive Service, Empowered
Communities, and Shared Humanity, this collaboration reflects CMC’s commitment
to building bridges between communities and international networks.
Through strategic partnership and shared
purpose, CMC continues to champion community engagement that is globally
connected, locally grounded, and sustainably transformative.
