Enhancing Assessment Capabilities:

𝗔 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

       Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) understands the crucial role of student assessment in the learning process. The aim of student evaluation is to gather and examine data in order to enhance student learning outcomes. By using this information, instructors can assess the effectiveness of their teaching methods and make adjustments as needed, ultimately improving the overall quality of education at CMC.

        To further support this objective, the Quality Assurance Office and the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs hosted a Training on item analysis and test question development on February 11, 2023, at CMC Building 9, Rooms 3-5. The said training was participated by CMC’s college deans, program heads, principal, and full-time and part-time faculty members.

       The session, with Dr. Felix Chavez Jr. as the resource speaker, aimed to empower educators with the crucial skills to perform item analysis and develop meaningful test questions. The goal was to enable educators to make informed decisions about their teaching and institutionalize effective pedagogical methods. Further, the measurement of student learning through assessment provided valuable feedback to both instructors and students, allowing them to track their progress toward meeting course objectives.

        Student assessment measures student performance and aligns it with specific learning objectives. This helps instructors determine the efficacy of their teaching methods and provide feedback to themselves and their students on the extent to which course objectives are being met.

        These assessments have a significant impact on the education system. By providing instructors with valuable information about their teaching methods and student performance, academic institutions can make positive changes to improve student outcomes.
