Central Mindanao Colleges celebrated the World Diabetes Day celebration with the event dubbed: DiaBEAThis on November 21, 2022. The event was held at the CMC Building 9, Rooms 3-6.
Attended by student leaders and CMC employees, the activity aims to promote action to BEAT diabetes as an emerging global health threat and as part of the health care program of the institution.
The eventโs theme: โAccess to diabetes education to protect tomorrowโ emphasizes on raising awareness about the disease and its prevention, complications, and treatment.
CMC school nurse Jaime Imasa emphasized in his diabetes education talk that one of the reasons for having diabetes is the wrong lifestyle. “Ang totoong solusyon โโ disiplina at kontrol sa sarili,” said Mr. Imasa.
One of the highlights of the activity was a physical workout through a Zumba Challenge, wherein the top 3 winners from two categoriesโemployees and students were able to receive cash prizes. Winners for the employeesโ category were Dr. Beatriz Gosadan, Ms. Florence Alcano, and Ms. Helna Sumugat. While for the students’ category were Kristian Rhey Alamis, Jerlie Yano, and Kysha O. Cedeรฑo.
The CMC Health Services Unit spearheaded the event with the guidance and support from the Office of Student Affairs and Services in collaboration with the other OSAS unit offices.
