CMC participates in dialogue with Bangsamoro Young Profs
Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) participates in the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship Programme’s Dialogue with Bangsamoro Young Professionals on February 3, 2023, at the Training Room, 8th Floor Community Center, Ateneo de Davao University.
CMCs Executive Assistant to the VP for Administration Mr. Axil Jame A. Mauna, CDAA, DBMA, along with 25 registered young profs have participated in the said dialogue.
Al Qalam Institute’s Executive Director, Datu Mussolini Sinsuat Lidasan officially opened the dialogue. New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellence Ambassador Peter Kell has also graced the event with his relevant information sharing on the New Zealand and Mindanao Connection.
With the sharing of the New Zealand and Mindanao connection, the session has also presented the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships. Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships are funded through the New Zealand Aid Programme and administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to help build sustainable development in partner countries and a lifetime connection with New Zealand. The purpose is for candidates to gain knowledge and skills through their study in specific subject areas that will assist in the development of their home country.
Scholarship awardees are required to return to their home country for at least two years after the completion of their scholarship to apply these new skills and knowledge in government, civil society, or private business organizations.
The said event was organized by the Al Qalam Institute of the Ateneo de Davao University and the New Zealand Embassy – Manila, Philippines. Al Qalam Institute for Islamic Identities and Dialogue in Southeast Asia is a resource center of the Ateneo de Davao University. It aims to provide materials for enhancing the curriculum of values education among the Muslim students of the university. The institute is also a research center. It aims to come up with a research agenda regarding Islamic identities in Mindanao in line with intra and inter-faith dialogue for nation/nations building. Also, it aims to support the university in conducting community outreach programs in building relationships with the Muslim communities in Southern Mindanao.
Partners of the dialogue are the University Community Engagement and Advocacy Council (ADDU UCEAC) and the ADDU Institutional Communications and Promotions Office.
