CMC participates HCDCs Information Sharing Session for the University of Northampton
On November 22, 2022, Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) and Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) announced their partnership for internationalization, which aims to foster academic excellence and promote internationalization among their students and faculty.
As part of this partnership, HCDC through Focal Person for the Center for Linkages, Internationalization, and Language Studies, Ms. Hazel G. Arozado invited CMC to an information sharing session with Ms. Sonia Pili, Regional Manager for Southeast Asia of the University of Northampton in the United Kingdom, on April 28, 2023, at 2 pm at HCDC President’s boardroom.
During the session, Ms. Pili shared insights on the importance of international exposure, global citizenship, and intercultural communication. She also presented various programs and opportunities available for students who wish to pursue their studies abroad.
Focal representatives from each HCDC academic program attended the session and learned more about internationalization and how it can be integrated into their respective programs. The information-sharing session was also in collaboration with Dr. Rene M. Babiera II, Coordinator of the University of Immaculate Conception (UIC) International Affairs and Linkages Office.
Mr. Erolle Linus T. Miranda, Institutional Communications Officer of CMC, attended the session and was interested in exploring possible collaborations and partnerships with other student groups from the United Kingdom and other parts of the world.
Ms. Sheryl Urdaneta, Head of the Center for Linkages, Internationalization, and Language Studies of HCDC, expressed her gratitude to CMC for accepting the invitation and emphasized the importance of internationalization in today’s globalized world and how it can help prepare students for future challenges and opportunities.
The partnership between CMC and HCDC is expected to open up more opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to engage in cross-cultural exchanges, collaborative research, and community service projects. Both institutions are committed to working together to develop innovative programs, conduct research, and engage in community service that will make a positive impact on society. The partnership will enable both institutions to share best practices and resources, allowing them to expand their academic offerings and provide their students with a more diverse and enriching learning experience.
Mr. Miranda echoed Ms. Urdaneta’s sentiments, stating that the partnership will enable CMC to expand its reach and enhance its academic offerings. He added that the partnership will allow CMC students to gain exposure to different cultures and perspectives, ultimately making them more well-rounded and globally competitive graduates. The partnership is expected to pave the way for more collaborative efforts between the two institutions and serve as a model for other academic institutions in the Philippines.
The HCDC-CMC partnership for internationalization and the information-sharing session with Ms. Sonia Pili are significant steps towards achieving academic excellence and promoting internationalization among their students and faculty.
Headed by the Center for International Affairs and Linkages Dr. Mark Gennesis B. Dela Cerna, the partnership is expected to create more opportunities for cross-cultural exchanges, collaborative research, and community service projects, ultimately leading to greater academic outcomes and prepare students for future challenges and opportunities. Both institutions are committed to working together to achieve academic excellence and promote internationalization.
