CMC Participates CHEDRO XII National Women’s Month Launching Event for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society
The Central Mindanao Colleges
(CMC) recently participated in the National Women’s Month launching event
hosted by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XII (CHEDROXII).
The theme of the event was “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive
Society,” with the hashtag #WEcanbeEqual. The event took place on March
16, 2023, at the KCC Mall of Marbel Convention Center.
The event aimed to celebrate the
achievements of women worldwide and promote gender equality and empowerment.
The event featured keynote speeches and presentations by influential leaders
from the academe, including three empowered men and three empowered women.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo of
the Province of South Cotabato, Dr. Sema G. Dilna, President of Cotabato State
University, and Dr. John Thomas C. Franco, Executive Vice President of St.
Alexius College, were among the three empowered men who gave inspiring insights
on gender equality. Meanwhile, Dr. Marilou E. Albano, VP for Academic Affairs
of Holy Trinity College of General Santos City, Dr. Ma. Teresa L. Samonte,
Chief Adviser Officer of CHEDROXII, and Ms. Rosalinda C. Veloria, President of
King Solomon Institute, were among the three empowered women who shared their
experiences and challenges in breaking through glass ceilings across different
professions.
Despite the significant progress
made towards gender equality in recent years, gender discrimination remains a
significant challenge in society today. The Women’s Month Launching event
provided an opportunity for individuals to come together and celebrate the
progress made towards achieving gender parity while recognizing the need for
more work to be done to promote equal opportunities regardless of one’s sex.
The theme for this year’s event,
“WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” aims to challenge
gender bias and inequality in communities and embrace gender equality so that
everyone is included in society. The CMC community fully supported the event
and pledged to continue promoting gender equality and inclusion.
